Would you want Dwight Howard on your team?

Post#1 » by minifang » Sun Mar 20, 2016 7:08 am

With the potential of Dwight being a FA this summer, due to his player option, would you want Howard on your team? He is no longer the top 5 player he once was but is still a very serviceable center, great defender, and rebounder. Is he worth all his childish antics and how much do you think he would command in terms of salary? How many years do you think he has left before his decline and injuries officially get to him? Also, if he opts out, and taking personal bias aside, which teams do you think would sign him?

Let's try to keep this civil please. For conversation sake, let's assume your team has enough cap room for him this summer.

Dwight Howard is a talented player, regardless of what people think of him personally so yes, I would welcome him back with open arms. Some don't want him being a leader for the team, that's fine, but everyone can use a rebounder, rim protector and defender. He might not be able to do that as beastly as he did when he was in Orlando but he still can play.

For something like 15-18mil under the upcoming new cap? Sure. He acts like a clown but he's still one of the better defensive bigs in the league. For what he wants/expects to get paid? F*ck no.

If he's not asking for a max, yes.

Nope, great player, doesn't seem a great leader and Durant doesn't like him.

So no.

This is an emphatic hell no. He's a player that more than anyone in the league, depended on athleticism to be elite. That is going to go away fast, but his next contract won't reflect that fact. Nope, stay away.

Yes, but not as at the max and not as a franchise type guy. Definitely not as a leader.

I'm much happier with Favors and Gobert as my bigs.

Howard at 15mil per year, would be the best C for 90% of the teams out there.
The fact that he's having an easy dd with only so few FGAs and mins, shows his quality.
His brains though.... :noway:

For most teams I would say no but I think he would fit in perfectly in Boston, and he would fill a drastic need

Bruh who Durant does or doesn't look like won't be an issue for OKC in the off season.

No, at this point, no. I would have wanted him and Paul a couple years back though, and they were reportedly talking about it with each other (creating a big 3 in Dallas with Dirk). Unfortunately it never happened. Right now, he is not close to the player he was back then and his game is likely to decline even more in the next couple years.

if he was willing to sign a deal for less than 10M a year I would consider it.

He'd destroy team chemistry.
