Oh, I doubt Melo has parted w/ any significant part of his money! He's NY wired; probably got very good Wall St. folks growing his financial garden.

And Melo isn't a free agent, is he? So we'd actually have to give something of value to NY for the honor of over-paying him.

We could trade cap room for him. But yes, I'm assuming New York would want a bit more.

It's an awful idea, but it's one I could definitely see Grunfeld considering. The organization seems to be run by people trapped in the 1980's. They have analytics, but they don't seem to use them at all. To them, points per game is the only stat that matters. Melo ranks 15th in points per game, so clearly, he is the 15th best player in the league. Of course we should trade cap room plus perhaps Porter and Oubre for him.

And the last thing I want to see is Phil Jackson making a fool of the Wiz as a GM. If he can turn around the Knicks, he'll go down as a genius as a GM; not just as a coach. Gotta say that Porzingis was a great pick, and he showed surprising restraint in not trading that pick.

Don't worry, Melo said he would never sign here a few years ago since it "was too close to home and brought back bad memories" of Baltimore. Also we're signing Durant anyway.
