Re: Tank Fest Update Around the League
I already know what happens this summer.
LAL get the #1 pick and take Simmons. Simmons lives up to the hype and destroys us every time we meet for years.
Phily gets the #2 pick and takes Ingram
Washington defies all odds and gets the 3rd pick completely screwing us in the process. Washington then trades the #3 pick and Keef to the Kings for Boogie. Boggie teams up with Wall and they become a contender in the east. Meanwhile the Kings take Murray who turns out to be a stud. Keef is now back in our division and torments us everytime we meet.
Since we finished 4th, we slide to 5 since Washington moved up.
Boston takes Bender at 4 who turns out to be an allstar.
We pick at 5 and everyone is gone.

I say this is my most likely scenario as well.

Such stuff is nothing compared to fixed playoff games, suspensions, Tim Duncan 3s and Ron Artest put backs. There is literally nothing that can possibly be worse than what we've already experienced. I can't even get mad at moving down.

Phily gets the #2 pick and takes Ingram, who struggles in mediocrity until Philly trades him to the Spurs where he becomes a sixth man of the year candidate, only because he can't beat out perennial MVP candidate Kahwi Leonard for the starting spot.

I would say it is actually worse because that is our future. The past cannot be changed.

Quoted because the possibility is real. Meanwhile in game threads everyone is cheering Tucker (because he doesn't want to lose) and Knight (who scores 30 points when he is not needed) on as we win games that are pointless.
Then they complain that the SUNS are cursed and how we can never catch a break. I think maybe we need people like that to just go cheer on a different team. May I suggest the Heat with your boyfriend Dragic?

Not sure what fantasy world you are living in but "everyone cheering Tucker and Knight in game threads" is far from accurate. You might be thinking of another forum because it would be far more appropriate to say "everyone hating on Tucker" or "everyone hating on Knight" no matter how they play in our game threads.

Somehow those fans who didn't mind the Suns winning the occasional game when the victory was the result of a dominant performance by Booker and Len, have been lumped into a group of "cheering for Tucker, Chandler and Knight to help us win meaningless games".
The distinction is not that difficult:
- Victory because Booker scores 30+ points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds = No problem. Dominant performances from our young players may result in a victory from time to time. Can't have it both ways.
- Victory as a result PJ Tucker and Tyson Chandler having fluke games = Not good for our tank.
I honestly wonder if there has been anyone on this board who has "cheering" for Tucker and Knight to lead us to victory. The closest thing is probably people saying "well, at least Knight putting up big numbers might increase his trade value in the offseason" - as a silver lining.

You hit the nail on the head with this post. Some people may say it's worthless to complain after the fact that those guys did lead us to a win, but at that point it doesn't matter. That doesn't equate to them pulling for Tucker and Chandler to pull out the meaningless win for us.

Re: Tank Fest Update Around the League
Forget about Brooklyn, they're just that bad.
The key game is @Minnesota, as long as they beat us, they'll have a 4 game buffer and we should manage 4th.
Worst case scenario would be for us to finish a game ahead of Brooklyn and Boston to win the lottery, Lakers to give up 4th pick to Philly and us to get 6th pick. So the nightmare scenario would end up being 6th vs 1st and 4th from the extra 1-2 wins and Brandon Knight trade. McDonough is going to be sh-tting himself on lottery night.

Have you yet to accept we are very likely to finish 4th worst? It still comes down to ping pong balls, and I would also rather finish 3rd worst, but it is unlikely to happen. btw, who do you want if we are 4th? Lets assume Ingram and Simmons are gone, and who knows who third pick takes...who would you most like to have of remaining prospects?

I'm not accepting anything at this point. We need a high pick and I fear that with the fourth worst record we will drop further as discussed previously. If Ingram and Simmons are off the board then I honestly don't expect much from our pick.
At that rate I would rather package Knight/Tucker/Goodwin/2016 pick for a star player and bring over Bogdan. Thoughts?

I've chosen to accept it based on how we are playing and Brooklyn having a much tougher schedule. If we finish better I will be happy. I'd trade those guys for a star player if it is on the table, but I'm guessing it won't be. If Boston drops below us (say we end up 4th and them 5th) then we might have a chance at a trade because they have loads of picks and if they are dead set on someone maybe they do it, but that is a risky proposition much like us messing with Toronto a couple years ago. I trust McD with picks right now. I just don't think stars will be on the table for that kind of package unless it is a team that thinks they will lose their player in FA next summer, but I don't think that is probable.

You don't think Cousins or Love will be available in the offseason?

Boogie won't be available until the 2017 deadline most likely

2017 FA will be filled with stars. I don't think we target him in 2017. Either now or never.

Tank Fest Update Around the League
This is how I'm choosing to look at it:
- if we finish 1st, we'll end up with whoever we want. I trust the FO's drafting given how Booker, Warren and Len have looked that we'll get the best prospect. If it's Simmons then great, a fellow Aussie to cheer on.
- if we end up 2nd with Ingram then great, I'm not a fan of combo forwards given how DWill and Bennett have busted as #1s in previous years.
- if we end up 3-6, and there's someone we really want, I'm confident we have the assets to move up as high as three if need be, given its a bit of a crapshoot.

I prefer your optimistic thinking than getting mad that Nets or Wolves lose their games.

I wouldn't trade a huge package for Love, or much of our core, but we do have a gaping hole at PF, so he'd be a huge upgrade to what we have now. Any of these rookies will be a 2-3 year work in progress.
