Re: Giannis' Development
I'd be curious if his name Michael Anderson if he'd be getting talked about like this. Being 6'11 opens eyes no matter what but not sure he'd be getting high major attention if it wasn't for his name. That being said, his name and getting into the game late leads you to believe there is still a lot of improvement and upside there for him.
Heck, for UW they have two open scholarships and no one worthy of using them due to not being able to recruit with the coaching change. Why not take a flyer on him, redshirt a year and see what happens? Bank the other one for later if they can't find a PG worth offering.
ETA: later on if you need the scholarship you could ask him to give it up to help the team since, you know, his brother is about to sign a deal for 100+ mil. You'd think with this recent run that national brands are going to come calling for Giannis to advertise as well.

He just isn't very good at basketball, obviously great genetics and size/length, but his skill level is pretty much nonexistent. Maybe he can develop into an energy PF or something.
Fringe D1 prospect is kind of an exaggeration, no? He's already got an offer from a Big 12 school & Pastner. It's not like his coach is on the horn begging Horizon coaches to come take a look. But yeah, he's got a crowd to get through before he can think about the NBA. Would be cool to see if Marquette can develop him.
I mean despite his name he had zero offers until very late in his senior year. In terms of on court ability he is totally fringe. He isn't a super high impact guy even at the HS level, just more so he shows flashes making an impressive play with his length here and there so you have a few teams willing to take a flier because what if? If he wasn't giannis's bro he wouldn't have high major offers that's for sure.

Someone talk me from the ledge.
Kidd doesn't view "point Giannis" as an experiment - - something that would only be used intermittently - - does he?

im gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he know what he has now in giannis so is gonna use the rest of the season to weed out the scrubs. that's why he is giving minutes to guys like ennis and inglis etc. if they dont show they can be rotational players he'll cut em lose. also tank some games in the process

I think Kidd has a ton of faults. He is not my ideal coach by any stretch. But I give him credit because he will try anything and I do think he did something that most coaches wouldn't have done: make Giannis the team's legit PG. And it has changed everything. I think that as long as Kidd is here, Giannis will be this team's PG. That is why I want to keep Kidd around for one more year at least, because I am not sure other coaches that come in will do the same.

Re: Giannis' Development
Given what he produced in the small sample size we have seen i think it would be ludicrous for any coach to come in and completely wipe his hands of Giannis the PG. Im not to worried about that.

His AAU stats last year...
4.9 PPG
3 RPG
0.6 APG
28% FG

18% 3pt

Yep, those same stats that projected OJ Mayo to be a superstar.

The point being if he didn't share the same last name as Giannis nobody around these parts would even mention the idea of drafting him

If Giannis ends season with 17pts, 8boards, 4.5dimes, 1.5steal, 1.5block, 2TOs i will be more than satisfied.
Next season we want 20/10/7/2/2/2

According to this guy Giannis doesnt run PNR and only good at transition playmaking.
viewtopic.php?p=46321679#p46321679
LIKE WTF, how can anyone say that when Giannis literally plays PNR and organizes offense whole freaking game.

This last month was a dream.
I can't believe that is happening so quick.
But i want to stay grounded.
4pts rise per season is a steady step. 2 boards, 2 assists.

The only people that are taking Simmons over Giannis are people that live by the "grass is always greener" philosophy when it comes to top prospects even when the grass they're standing on is pretty damn green.

I will never understand why people get so high over draft prospects compared to the proven players at the highest level.

Yeah and that's why i'm careful lol
Don't want to be disappointed. There are people disappointed with ADavis this season!
And the guy was a beast. They are disappointed because they were expecting him to be the MVP. Nothing less
Expectations will be sky high and that's tricky

I had lofty expectations of Giannis' this year and he has shattered them in the last month. I wont doubt the Greek God any further

I really thought we had a thread at the end of last season where people called out their expectations for the Young3, but can't find it...maybe it was buried in something else?

This. 100% this.
http://www.sportingnews.com/nba-news/4699329-giannis-antetokounmpo-milwaukee-bucks-point-guard
Call him whatever you want, but Giannis should have the ball in his hands at the beginning, middle and end of every game and every other possession in between. He's too good for anyone else to hold the ball as much as they have in recent games. This should be Giannis's team. Everything should revolve around him. It's not difficult.
