Given the history of bust positionless forwards taken in the early lottery (Anthony Bennett, Derrick Williams, even Beasley), what makes Simmons a surer thing than these guys? Better rebounder/defender? Better athlete?

He is very risky imo. Honestly I have a feeling there is a bigger chance he will be bust than he will be a superstar. Ingram looks like a much safer choice with his shooting and defensive potential. I would hate to be gm with 1st pick this year.
Simmons is compared to LeBron and Magic but he is not as psychically dominant as LeBron or competitive as Magic. I think he will be closer to Diaw than any of these two.

I don't think Ingram is the safer choice., I think Ben Simmons' floor is a '05 Diaw or pre-Kardashian Odom. He might disappoint and never become a multiple all-star, but he's too physically gifted to completely bust. Ingram has a higher ceiling, but also more bust potential IMO: could turn out to be Kevin Durant-esque, could turn out to be Wesley Johnson-esque.

Suppose simmons drops to 3 / 4 .... Could easily see McMully packaging the pick with a combo of players for a tabled star. would Bled/simmons/Tucker net Love? Snag that lanky SF from Indiana and sign a FA pg???

No doubt the Front Orfice and Booby Sarver would like to feature a ticket selling addition.

Going to be some wheelin and dealin down the road. Much needed shuffle

PS ... FA pg like Mike Conley??? I think we could be a fairly attractive place for him, given adding Love or ?

I wonder what the chances would be of us drafting Jaylon Brown 4th, then grab Ivan Rabb at 14. That would potentially be a smart play, as they both did very well together at Cal, well, until Brown fouled out early (17 minutes in) in their loss to Hawaii. I didn't see the game of course, but Rabb had a dbl-dbl on 45% shooting.

Anyway, both will likely be available at both our picks, assuming we draft 4th and 14th.

Bledsoe/Booker/Warren/Len/Chander with Brown, Rabb, Bogdanovic, Goodwin, and Leuer coming in, in relief; with the serious hope that we unload Knight over the summer. Honestly, I'd be fine with taking on a different bad contract, or giving up something of some value to make that happen.

Honestly don't get why people want K. Love so badly. He's so soft. Worst big man defender in the league and pads his stats. Would never give Bledsoe, pick or anything of decent value for him. Plus he's on a max contract. He's deadweight on the Cavs

Suns needs to build around 2-way players who are solid defenders.

What if we can sneak him in without giving away much due to his current salary? Don't forget that the cap is going to keep rising.

If we pick him up without giving up Bledsoe, Booker, Warren, Len, our pick and the Wiz pick I would be jumping for joy. I say this about love because roughly 4 posts up someone asks if we could get him for Bledsoe Simmons and tucker. That would kill our franchise. If we were to get him, I would be interested in bringing him off the bench as a super 6th man.

That would be Brooklyn Nets level of dumb.

You crazy to think we not want Love. Theres that thing called tickets sales and he would be a boom to the marketing dept Big upgrade for us with the right mix.

Just saying if hes available McMully would be in the mix

I dont care to struggle with the grooming of Simmons, not buying the hype of many of these top picks. Give me Love and Conley and play ball. Both or nada. It can happen. McMully needs make a splash and that is a cannon ball

So you want the Suns to be mediocre? Or you think Love-Conley duo would make the Suns contenders?

The front office is not going to make moves simply to sell tickets. They want to build a contender and are rebuilding. Love has never led a team to the playoffs. Love is an awful move. You think our defense is bad now... Love makes it 10x worse. Love was torched by Keef every time we played against him.

I am not trying to say that I would be mad if we got Love. As long as we do not give up anything crazy to get him. I would do a package around Knight and Chandler for him but I would never give up Bled, Warren, Booker, Len, our pick or Washingtons for him

While I agree that he's not a guy we should get, you can't definitively sit here and say the front office won't make moves to sell tickets. Nobody cares about this team right now. The seats are empty..and this is Robert Sarver. Kevin Love has star power (deserved or not), he's young enough to sell as part of the core moving forward. Your other points are accurate, but like I tell my wife: just cause that's the way you want it to work out doesn't mean it actually will.

Nobody is buying tickets to watch Love shoot jumpers. Silly to think otherwise.

A super-hyped "Lebron James 2.0" rookie and potential future cornerstone of the franchise vs a he-is-who-he-is Kevin Love?

Oh I disagree. Nobody knew or cared who Love was when he was putting up 26/13 on a terrible Minny team and nobody really cares now that he's talked his way onto a "contender" only to struggle finding consistency after almost 2 full seasons with the Cavs while sitting behind Irving and Lebron. I just don't see the star power. If we were a good team already and we added Love, I can see the attraction as a "final piece of the puzzle" kind of thing. But not when you're a struggling lotto team bringing in a guy who doesn't exactly play an exciting style of basketball, doesn't have much of a personality nor puts in any effort defensively. If Love is your definition of moving the needle, then we'll just have to agree to disagree.
