That said I am curious how seriously the Rockets are pursuing this or if this is all being driven by Motiejunas & his agent. If it is the latter then the team should step in and apply some pressure.

Maybe BOTH Morey and Stan had second thoughts so they just decided to have Dmo fail his physical and brush the trade under the rug? Probably not but would make sense as to why Morey or anyone else from the rockets have said anything

Got room in that tin foil hat for one more?

It was a sham trade from the beginning. Morey asked Stan to do the trade and have DMo fail the physical because Morey wants to sign DMo long term on the cheap. In return, SVG and Detroit get the all-important future considerations. Devious, no?

Obviously that would be a horrible thing to do and I know SVG wouldn't be a part of it (and if I knew more about Morey I'd probably know he wouldn't be a part of it), but it's fun to play conspiracy theory.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

Conspiracy or not, Motiejunas is likely to struggle to get a big contract with his back the way it is. I'd love to keep him around on a reasonable deal.

I think that he is here for the long haul.

And if that is the case then it makes for an interesting narrative. This could be the second time that Morey may have been bailed out on a trade by having the deal he made rescinded by another party.

I think that we can all agree that the failed CP3 deal turned out to be beneficial for the Rockets. I think that the same will be true with Motiejunas.

I've got my fingers crossed. He hasn't been hitting so far this season but I believe in DMos jump shot and he has a crazy skill set. His value is as low as it will ever be so hopefully (sorry Dmo) Morey can capitalize.

Feels like every day it crosses my mind what would happen to the rockets if the trade went through.

The funny thing is that the lakers trade offer was probably better in hindsight, though not at the time, than what the Pelicans actually got from the clippers

Seeing what's happening with Chris Bosh and Melo.... man Morey has been lucky with some deals turned down or voided.

I'm thrilled Motiejunas may stay long term.

Bosh would've been awesome though

True, until he ran into blood clots. I mean I really hope he gets back but that's a tough situation for him.

Butterfly effect, you never know haha unless people are just destined to get blood clots, I don't really know how one gets them
