GT: Heat vs. Spurs

Post#1 » by Nolan » Tue Mar 22, 2016 2:23 pm

When: 6:30 PM MT Mar. 23rd 2016
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio TX

We need a bounce back performance after that dismal loss in Charlotte. The key to this is going to be playing 4 quarters of quality basketball, not just one.

Go Spurs!!

Whiteside will test them.

Parker struggles and is very timid against shotblockers, Duncan now struggles and Aldridge (despite his work on the boards of late) doesn't exactly play above the rim with his offensive arsenal around the basket either.

Good point my friend. Whiteside has been on fire lately, the guys not the brightest but he can do things that can't be taught.

He can be somewhat immature which could give make the avg basketball fan perceive him to be not "bright", but he's actually got a very solid basketball IQ.

There's been plenty of centers with his length over the years that didn't have his success. It's more than just his physique and talents. He's a very smart rim protector and rebounder.

But yea he can def be a knucklehead at times

I'm glad you used rim protector instead of defender.

I put Whiteside with Anthony Davis, as two great shotblockers, but average one on one defenders of their own man.

Gotta love Pop. Up by 26 in the 4th and he's tearing Kyle Anderson a new one for missing a defensive assignment.

Kawhi with a career high (tie), so impressive. I keep saying it, but we look scary when our SG's are hitting shots. I know Green got his when the game was over but was also nice to see Martin get a few points on the board. 12 pts in 15 minutes, 2-2 on 3's and getting to the line. His shot is ugly as hell but it goes in and the reports were right, he really does get to the line like no other guard on our team. I hope he gets a lot of minutes between now and the first round, he could be a major bench player for us.

And Boban... he is awesome to watch!

Spurs rookie center Boban Marjanovic had 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting in 13 minutes.

''He's one of the most selfish players I've been around,'' Popovich joked, unable to stifle his laughter. ''He shot it every time he touched it. It's incredible. He should apologize to his team tomorrow for being so greedy. He just wanted to get his name in the paper.''

Marjanovic was shocked when told of Popovich's comments.

''If coach said that, then ...,'' Marjanovic said before being informed Popovich was kidding.

''This just happened tonight,'' Marjanovic said, smiling in relief. ''I felt great tonight.''

And he tore Boban a new one a couple minutes earlier as well.

Strange game, the crowd was dead and neither team really seemed all that into it but we managed to win and win by a large margin so I guess that's all that matters.

Kawhi was unreal, he got to the line at will. Hopefully that quad injury is nothing serious.

Boban is a scoring machine in the low block and he really did a great job down there. If this guy was slightly more mobile he'd be a real player.

Also nice to see Danny knock down some shots, he really needed those three 3's to drop in the 3rd.

Josh Richardson looked really good for the Heat as well. Hit some big 3's, played with some intensity in both ends and made a few nice drives to the rim.
