However, in light of the incident, I'm guessing Griffin will have to walk on egg shells in the immediate aftermath.

Griffin is forced to be on his best behavior now. No more techs, no more flagrants, no more ejections. He needs to become more Tim Duncan than ever before. If he can lead by example instead of being an example, maybe the Clippers will be given the brakes they sorely lusted for to win their games.

Call It Like It Is

I'm going to make this prediction now: Griffin will miss the rest of the regular season. He will be reactivated in the Lakers home court game, miss the last four games to a team-mandated suspension which will cover the final four games of the regular season.

Griffin will be a playoff-only player.

i have some legit concerns he's out for the entire year. at this point i think it's a possible thing, because his injury clearly isn't healing at the rate it was supposed to.

It's over fam.
He still has 4 games to sit out with 12 left.
There aren't enough reps (games) out there for him to get comfortable and our team to jell.

It's over. I'm just hoping we make the 2nd round at this point.

How does his suspension work? Since coaches are free to put players on the inactive list from game to game (not like what it used to be when the injury list existed and a player was required to be inactive for a certain number of days), can't the team just lie and say he's ready to play and then serve the suspension immediately, so that he would be available to play when he's actually healthy?

Supposedly, no, because the league is monitoring the situation in order to avoid such maneuvering.

Besides, it would look pretty bad if you say he's ready, those 4 games come and go, and he still isn't able to play.

Further to this, the clearance to play comes from an independent doctor to prevent teams cheating the suspension.

The Bucks had the same situation a few years ago when Larry Sanders failed a drug test while out with with a busted thumb.

If Blake isn't cleared until the playoffs, does he have to serve the suspension in the playoffs or in the regular season next season?

Once he is cleared to play, the suspension is instant, regardless if it's the regular season or the playoffs.

The bigger question is, what if Griffin was traded to another team. Does it become an NBA-level suspension?

Punishment Tied to the Player, Not Team

Post#215 » by Ranma » Sat Mar 26, 2016 1:36 am

That should be the case. While Griffin did strike an employee of the Clippers, Testi is still under the NBA umbrella. Given that the league is monitoring the situation and was involved with the Clippers handing out the suspension in the first place, I'd say it's pretty much a given that the punitive measure would carry over to his new team should he hypothetically be traded before serving his suspension. Blake doesn't get out of it unless he retires tomorrow or something.

Griffin's Back!

Post#216 » by Wammy Giveaway » Sat Mar 26, 2016 7:35 pm

A 3-game losing streak to the Grizzlies, Pelicans and Warriors forced Doc to reactivate him. He'll serve his suspension for the following games: Nuggets, Celtics, Timberwolves and Thunder.

Griffin returns April 3 vs. Wizards.

Update On Griffin's Back

An interesting turn of events. This could mean the Clippers (Doc Rivers) might choose not to activate Griffin at all. If they activate him for the Warriors series, he'll still have to serve that four game suspension. And the Clippers could automatically get swept without him.

Something tells me Doc wants this to happen.

well i don't entertain anything when it's story time, but unless i'm reading it incorrectly the team can stick blake on the suspension earlier than anticipated. well, if i got it right, anyway
