Glad Hassan remained focus and didn't let the haters bring him down. Talent trumps all in this league, and he has alot of it. The sky is the limit for him! I would like to really see him strongly considered for DPOY.

many lobs and dunks for Whiteside. was sometimes doubled, but after a fellow player's drive he became free again.
he blocked guys on the perimeter as well, not just under the rim. absolutely amazing.

It looks so crazy to me right now that Haberstroh wanted to trade Whiteside and Deng for Ryan Anderson. And Some people like Sheridan and probably haberstroh were suggesting Whiteside, Deng and Dragic for an old, washed up, lazy, sticky fingered cheater version of Whiteside. SMH :nonono:

Whiteside will do what is in his best interest. Bosh is our franchise player, who has a max contract and is a Center. Bosh will be back this season or worst case next but he will be the starter and the player who finishes games on the court. It would be foolish to ignore these things. So we cant offer more money, cant offer more years, cant even offer a starting position or worst let him end games.

I hope im wrong but it is what it is...

Well, I've some good news for you Flash4thewin. According to "Albert" from HeatHoops, who dedicates an unhealthy part of his life to the CBA, we *can* offer more than other teams for Whiteside.

Here is our exchange:

A link to the article (about Josh Richardson):

Anyway, I'm as much a fan of Whiteside as any of you, but sometimes your player-fanninness is annoying af. Capice?

I knew it! People were overcomplicating it when talking about early bird rights vs full bird rights.

I've always seen it as a team being able to offer higher percentage raises to their own players and less to opposing players. In the end this amounts to what? $2-3mill? With that said though that in addition to zero state income tax gives us a sizable advantage over a team like the Lakers.

Combined with the state tax issue it allows us to offer quite a bit less income and not affect the net pay. We're keeping Hassan if he wants to stay, and everything indicates he loves the team. He'll love us more after we knock out some playoff teams.

Keep your fingers crossed, quiz. We're going to turn some heads. I can feel it.

Since the all star break in 18 games he's averaging:

18ppg 13.7rpg 3.4bpg on 65.5TS%, he's playing 30mpg and turned himself into an 80% FT shooter. Would it be a stretch to say that he's already better than Bosh gom?

Hassan has better numbers than Bosh, but he's a very different player. Chris stretches the floor by having an excellent jump shot and good range from 3 points. One of the disappointments of this season for me is that we haven't found a good way to use Bosh and Whiteside together. In theory, they would be devastating. In practice, we get a congested paint, poor spacing on the floor, low scoring (though good defense - but Winslow has a lot to do with that), and a slow, slow game. When Bosh stopped playing, we improved by necessity. It remains to be seen how well he can be reintegrated. That's Spo's big challenge next year.

The short answer is we need them both.

Can you think of a creative way we can also keep Deng and Joe Johnson without losing Wade? This team next year is a contender, but I don't think we can keep everyone. We lucked into it this time around.

First we dump McBob, now we have $43mill in space.

We sign Deng to a 3yr $30mill deal giving him a base salary of around $9mill?

$34mill left.

Resign Wade for 3yr $43mill which would give him a base of about $13mill.

$21mill left.

If we can get Hassan at anything less than his max then we can also try and resign JJ, if not then we max Hassan and fill out the rest of our roster with minimum players like Amare, Weber, ect.

To me though that's plan B, plan A is to get in a room with Durant and sell him on the Heat. How that would work though IDK. Riley and Andy will figure something out.

Pat was never one to go the safe route. He'll swing for the fences like always. That's what makes us fans so lucky. :)

Chalm Down, teams are working anywhere from a 95M to an 89M estimate of total cap space. In my calculations now I'm using $92M.
A higher cap means more space to sign Wade and Whiteside, but it also raises the max salary. Note that it does no good to extend a 4 year contract to Wade because of the "over 37" rule which adds more salary to the cap for the extra years. Also note that I kept Wade & Whiteside caps so we can give 7.5% raises using Bird and Early Bird rights (respectively). I also waived Green. McRoberts hasn't been traded. If he is gone, there may be room for Deng.

Thanks, this is really informative :). I've been trying to understand more of this cap stuff as the offseason gets closer.

Quick question, what is the purpose of that $543,471 figure that you've allotted for a couple of guys?

$543,471 is the minimum rookie contract for 2016-7. You must have 12 players signed or use an incomplete roster charge placeholder. Here is the item in the CBA:

http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q14

Remember, though, that all these numbers are fuzzy until the league designates the cap in July.
