I agree, I watched KCP in Georgia. He is a shooter. If he is coached up and played in a good system like the Hawks or Spurs, i think he could be a .400 three point shooter.

How is Baze off the dribble? I haven't watched a lot of him admittedly but I would imagine it's not something he has to do all that often.

You're right, he doesn't do much off the dribble. He mainly cuts and spots up for open jumpers. Baz is smart on offense and knows his role and knows how to move without the ball. Teague and Millsap going one on one from time to time and Baz knows how to read the defense and make cuts or screens and gives Teague and Millsap a passing lane if the defense collapses on them.

Their are a few times when Baz might create his own shot and he is pretty good at getting into the lane and elevating over guys to get a decent look. He doesn't do it alot, but when he does, he looks pretty decent.

i'm not trying to say Baz is Pippen, but his game reminds me of a poor man's Pippen, in their approach to the game, in that he is very aggressive on defense and always tries to force a turnover or create havoc and just very flat out active, but on offense, he is very passive, just goes with the flow, doesn't force anything and just takes what ever the defense gives him.

Thank you for the analysis. I think what i've seen from KCP is that he kind of knows that he has to create his own offense. No one on this team is really looking to be a distributer (Reggie does at times but mostly to Dre)

Because of this I think he has developed more off the dribble capabilities and his catch and shoot numbers have suffered. If you look at his stats on NBA.com, he's shooting 43% from mid-range, and only 30% from 3. I'm not trying to say it's Reggie's fault that he can't shoot unless it's a pull-up, but it's certainly affected him

Here's what I mean about KCPs shot selection preventing him from being efficient:

Image

On the season, his least efficient shot has been from around the arc, yet for some reason he's taken more from there than any other shot. If he just eliminated that from his game, he would actually be shooting 47% FG and 36% 3FG this year. If he eliminated the right corner 3 too, he would be 48% FG and 39% 3FG.

That's with no improvement needed. Just NOT taking shots he's bad at, and he would fit perfect. Spot him in the left corner, SJ in the right, and Morris in front and the spacing would be great. But it's not that simple because he can't help himself, as surely the coaching staff has made him aware of this, yet he continues to take them anyways. I don't know why he does, but that is the cause of his shooting issues.

Some players just don't have that control though. They make 1 from a spot they're not good at, the crowd starts cheering, and suddenly they think they can make em all from there. I think that is just the type of player he is, and it's what is going to prevent him from ever being efficient. It's possible he can develop that discipline as he matures, but he's been taking that shot more than any other every year of his career thus far (despite being the least efficient at it every year), and it hasn't gotten through to him yet, so there's no reason to believe it will with more time. And we only have 1 more season to evaluate before deciding on his next contract.

Sorry to the see the guys lose - they looked dazed, gassed, and confused.

But they showed fight - by that I mean literal punch-a-dude-in-the-face fight. That we need because the Pistons can't be soft if they're going to take that next step. They have to be ready to bring the chippyness. Stanley Johnson and Marcus Morris got that dog in them. KCP is another dude who won't back down. We need Drummond bringing out the nastiness.

BTW I'm starting to HATE the Hawks. They bring out that Hack a Dre stuff when they have the lead.

They also have to respond correctly after a loss, which is what I'm hopping for next game against a REALLY tough opponent (OKC).

If we are a playoff team, the game against OKC are games we have to win. There's a lot more than just playoffs on the line against OKC with RJ's history as well as the fact we played like crap against them at the beginning of the season. They need to REDEEM themselves 8-)

You guys crack me up, there is a continuing debate about how we need more consistent shooting because of the myth that it impacts our spacing . And you guys recommend Kent Bazemore, who shoots career below the league average of 3 point shots.......................................lol

Let's talk about Belinelli and Gary Neal shooting after leaving San Antonio.

I totally agree. For RJ he's got to come out aggressive looking to bury OKC. The past is the past. Westbrook and Durant certainly felt that way. It's time for RJax to take it to those cats with a statement game. I also need to see Drummond to stand up to the physicality the Thunder bigs are going to bring to him. He disappeared and flopped around as Adams, Ibaka, Collison, and Kanter laid their bodies on him and threw him around.

This is definitely a redemption game.

Let's git it!

Hawks hot, Pistons not. Hawks are really good and deep.

A fair point to make is that at respective points in their careers KCP has the better over Bazemore. Bazemore was about KCP's age now when he entered the league and spent a lot of his first year in the dleague. KCP was in the league at 19. Bazemore is the more efficient player now, but the Pistons have 3 years of development into KCP? Is it really the smart move to give up on him now? Yeah, he needs to learn better shot selection or shoot better, but his game has progressed.

Posts advocating poster tolerance are always well taken. I block no one. At the same time, when a poster takes the position on every subject that there is nothing good to find in the Pistons and airs these opinions in a provocative manner, it tends to draw responses. Some people refer to this as "trolling." Of course, the correct response is no response but that often proves a problem. I always thought it was best to find the humor.

Bazemore would fit perfect here if we could sign him in FA.

he shoots better than kcp at least.

Bazemore is little more than a cheerleader
