I think the Lakers fans should realize how much this can hurt their ability to sign big time stars via free agency. The Lakers are (were) one of the biggest free agent destinations. Stars want to go to LA and play. However, now these guys will have doubts about joining a team with a guy like Russell. Remember, the truth does not matter because no one really knows what happened. Perception is everything. And the perception right now is that Russell is a snitch. And no sane player is going to want to take that risk.

Basically, Russell's stupid mistake (whether intentional or not) might have ruined the Lakers for the nearby future. And they might need to let him go if he has a mediocre year next year (and then he might be out of the NBA).

Can we find a middle ground please?

Paul Newman didn't cheat, for example. Unless you going by that Jimmy Carter / Jesus Christ standard.

And btw, it's not shocking that a guy cheated when he was drunk at a strip club. A man who respects his spouse doesn't get drunk at strip clubs exactly bc $100 drunken BJs happen.

tldr - I agree the self-righteousness ITT is laughable but fidelity and monogamy are not myths

For the religious zealots.....aren't you not supposed to have sex without being married? How many of you are having sex right now? Again, monogamy!?! the dude isn't married. Shouldn't people be crying about having premarital sex?

Did you just equate believing in monogamy to being a religious zealot?

Wow.... Just wow

What Russell did was pretty stupid BUT... If you're dumb enough to cheat on your woman, and then even dumber when you brag about to your bro then you deserve what you get.

especially cause now most these games might be complete blowouts, unless russell is benched for all of them
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Drinking and access to women can lead to some bad scenarios. I've seen it and been part of it but generally the guys I hang with look out for each other. We pull a guy away from a situation that we know he's going to regret. I almost hooked up with my girl friends room mate one night at a bar but luckily some friends pulled me out of the situation before it was too late. That's what friends do.

Would anyone witness that and then bait the person into confessing on video so they could post it for the world. And I'm not talking a video about someone that no one outside his immediate community knows. These people are celebrities, it's going to get worldwide attention. People screw up, they regret it or the don't. If it's really bugging you man up and tell them that it's keeping you up at night or whatever the reason is you are about to expose them, talk it out.

For contrast all of my friends have been married for 10-30 years and have NEVER cheated on their wives. Or maybe they have, but I dont know because they aren't stupid enough to tell me.

I only say that because young people may read your post and think that having a monogamous relationship is impossible. It happens all the time.

Kobe should welcome the distraction. Maybe kids won't remember him as the guy that's outstayed his abilities.

Exactly, I thought I was going crazy.

The fact that all your friends cheat tells us something about you, and the people you associate with.

I got the kind of friends who we joke about "being whipped" cause they so in love with their fiance or girl.

Wow.... Just wow

 I am saying people here are acting like religious zealots bringing up things like monogamy which got its basis from religion and are applying it to a sinful relationship, such as Nick and his girl, then saying Nick is wrong for cheating, thus being hypocritical. Be faithful while having premarital sex is to laugh. And for the atheists, why should he be faithful? Who cares? Who sets the rule of monogamy? If Nick doesn't value that rule, why is he a bad guy? Because you say so? or because God says so? They aren't married for the crusaders and why should it be a bad thing if you are not basing it on religion. Just two people who have semi-exclusive sex, in short people are hypocrites and Nick is no more the enemy than his "girl."

Your honor, I rest.

I hope that explains it, if not, who cares.

BTW: I read one of your earlier posts, you are in the Nick is in the bad guy camp POV, thus your consternation of my post makes total sense.

So I immediately thought of the Shaq-Kobe feud after reading this and how Kobe told cops he should just pay women hush money like Shaq does.

Ridiculous that a similar thing with a teammate outing another is happening in LAL again. As for this situation, rook is completely in the wrong. You dont record a teammate like that, or any person for that matter. Mind yourself.

Uh...what? How is that the same thing  . Being faithful is not a religious act. If Nick and his girl have an understanding then that's cool but, if not then it's **** for Nick to do that.

Both scenarios are still commonplace. I also know guys who cheat primarily at strip clubs or with prostitutes, cause they know there's basically no way anyone can find out and it wont have any repercussions, unless a guy like russell is in there filming everything or something like that.

Then I also know guys, who would never cheat and have been in monogamous relationships for a long time.

I've also been with women, who were cheating on their unsuspecting men.

First, Kobe would probably lose in that 1v1 and secondly, Kobe could care less about snitching on a scrub player. Kobe snitched on Shaq.

Nick was recorded by a "teammate" during a homie to homie chat. Not even close. But, I guess most people here have no problem showing their jealousy toward rich multi-millionaires who play basketball for a living and can get anything they want and it seems a lot o posters here can't get jack and wished he'd stay "true" to his girlfriend and be just like you, only dreaming of being with many beautiful women at your beckoning call.

He cheated on his "girl" what a loser....blah blah blah. He deserves it...blah blah blah. You guys are the same type of guy as Russell.

Once he gets married, we can talk, but "finance" "girlfriend" and Hollywood fiance at that...........man please.

I'm not sure who this is directed at, but for what it's worth, my stance is that Nick and Sterling are both creeps, but both had their trust and privacy violated. Being a creep doesn't negate one's right to not be recorded without consent (or in Sterling's case, to have his private recording made public without his consent).

Russell is a huge jacka** for what he did.

Judging Nick is ridiculous. You have no idea what type of relationship he has with his GIRL. Is it okay to have an open relationship if one chooses? People just went all in on Nick.......crazy.

That's a good point, but in defense of those who went in on Nick, the story suggests that Russell's teammates are upset with him because he recorded Nick while he was revealing confidential information. The issue would be a little different if the relationship is open and Nick was regaling Russell with unguarded stories of his conquests.

Fair enough, though; perhaps Russell is the only creep here.

Fact of the matter is Russels immaturity and horrible decision making caused this. I'm not saying Nick young is righ for cheating because obviously it's wrong. But to willingly record someone without there consent and then post it to social media is messed up. I lost a lot of respect for him. Just because there's right and wrong. This was soo foul.

Well, it seems to me quite a few people in here are okay with cheating. I understand what D'Angelo did was dumb, but for the people going out of their way to defend Young. . . Wow. I'm pretty sure a few people are cheating on here. Lol.

Cheating is stupid and I don't understand being in a "relationship" with someone if you're gonna cheat. I also like how a few people keep talking about "trust", but how is your partner supposed to trust you if you're cheating?
