I mean, Green is a hell of a player, but there's no way he could get that number of assists playing in this team, for example.

Yeah, having the splash brothers as a backcourt while he's in a HORNs high is what makes him so deadly. Once the defense blitzes Curry (which they do 9/10 times because of his limitless range) he just gives it out to Green from the top of the key for either a wide open 3 or a dribble drive layup/drop off pass to Bogut/Kickout to a curling Curry 3. Combined with Green's pretty high BBIQ, it makes it a deadly combo.

It's literally impossible to guard. We don't have the personnel from the 1 to the 3 spots to even run this.

Part of it is that Morris' handle and court vision aren't on that level.

Not sure if he should be used like Draymond Green, or even capable... but it's possible that we'll all be penciling Marcus Morris in as our 2nd best player after the playoffs.

March: 16.1ppg, 4.5rpg, 2.2apg, 49.2%, 50.8% from 3(2.1/4.2 per game)
Last 5 Games: 18.6ppg, 5.4rpg, 3.0apg, 57.6%, 54.5% from 3(2.4/4.4 per game)

:D I can't remember the last time a role player surprised so many of us like this.. Didn't we all expect a 19 year old to outperform him by the All-Star break? Hats off to SVG. I might be more confident in Marcus Morris' future here than I am Reggie Jackson's, to be completely honest.

If Marcus is a solid 40% 3-point shooter now, look out! There's a chance.

Mook is quickly climbing the ladder as a #1 option... he's got the post game that they are hoping Dre will develop.

Maybe if reggie was steph. Because draymond gets to work with a lot of 4 on 3's that morris doesnt have the luxury of.
I came here to do two things: get lost and slice **** up & I'm all out of directions.

Yeah on offense at least I'd argue Marcus Morris is actually better than Draymond. People really underestimate that he truly does play 4 on 3 more than half the time he touches the ball. He doesn't draw double teams, he doesn't have to run pick & rolls, he isn't driving and kicking off the dribble, and he isn't iso'ing. He more times than not catches the ball in a favorable situation and has grown adept at making the right decision in those 4 on 3's and in their sets... put Marcus in the same position I think he's a better finisher at the rim, can make at least 80% of the passes Draymond makes, and he's more of a threat because if he gets forced into a 1-on-1 situation he's more capable of getting a quality look for himself

Marcus Morris has been streaky ever since coming to Detroit (just like a lot of guys). He started off fantastic early and then hit a lull a month or two into the season where he was shooting around 40% from the field and 30% from three (this is when many wanted him coming off the bench). Now, he has heated up again. To be a #1 scoring option he needs to keep shooting an accurate ball with consistency plain and simple. IMO he needs to maintain a 45%+ FG% and 37%+ 3PT%.

Obviously having Klay & Curry among others buys Green some time...and in the NBA that half a second is huge...but let's not under sell Green here either.

Dude has instincts and had worked very hard to become the player he is now.

The reason Mook can't be used like Green is:

1 - he ain't yet on Green's level when it comes to reading and reacting to the D

2 - he doesn't get the cushion Green gets because our shooters aren't as deadly as Klay & Curry.

It's possible to use him in that role in the right line up though. I personally think that Baynes, Mook, Harris, Bullock, Blake is the group where we could experiment with it...but we're trying to make the playoffs right now so that's something that can wait

Marcus Morris' 1-on-1 game is superior to Draymond Green, and his handle is right there as well. He isn't seasoned in the role and it obviously took Draymond some time as well but I think Morris can be very good taking on more of a point forward role. I've been saying Marcus Morris is the best player on our team for like months now.

Yesterday was a big day for Marcus. He was getting his Carmelo on iso'ing getting buckets mid range, and he actually drew a double team. He turned the ball over, but let him get comfortable in that high/low post playmaking position when those double teams come. Then we have a post/iso playmaker.

Marcus Morris is the G.O.A.T. he has it all... stood toe to toe with Paul George, has defense, can hit 3's, can iso, can pass, finishes at the rack at a high percentage, great composure... I feel like if utilized and emphasized correctly moving forward he can be an All-Star. He very well may be the MVP in us stealing a playoff series where his versatility can really stand out. Marcus Morris is a top 25 NBA player with role player usage... he needs to eat into 20% of Reggie Jackson's usage #FreeMarcusMorris

Alot of it is a players personal motivation to work harder than everyone else to be the best player they can be. I don't think Morris works as hard at developing his game off court as Draymond has . . . yet. It is all up to Morris to want it more.

Because Detroit doesn't feature a PG with the shooting prowess of a Stephen Curry.

Opponents are hedging hard, trapping, blitzing etc. screens and hand-offs involving Curry, which frees up Green to be a secondary playmaker after the defense breaks down.

It's not that simple.

I had never seen a guy being double at 29 feet and never could have imagined a skinny boy will.
