Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Re: Head Coach
I can see Luke Walton becoming a good coach in the league in the future. He was very successful with the Warriors when Kerr was on medical leave. But I just don't see him being a head coach for another team and coaching players that he used to play against.
I like Van Gundy because this team lacks fire and discipline. I think he's the one from that list capable of bringing that. I also like Thibs as well. Scott Brooks and Chris Finch maybe. Definitely not Juwamma Howard, Lionel Hollins or Kelvin Sampson.

JVG #1, Thibbs #2
I have no real thoughts on the other candidates at this time. We will see with the rapidly approaching offseason how my opinion changes.

Re: Head Coach
Doubt JVG comes here. He probably wants a job like his brother has, where he's the president of basketball operations and head coach. I'm hoping for Thibs. We can survive with a bad offensive system, we are 8th right now with one. We just need better rotations and Defense. Thibs can do that, and he and Harden have a good history

Re: Head Coach
Lakers will probably snag Luke once they fire Byron Scott or maybe the Suns since Walton played at UA. Just thought I'd include him since he will be a hot commodity this summer.
I think Brooks could be a good choice if Durant is a factor. I dunno how Harden feels about him though since Brooks used him as a 6th man.
Cassell has been an assistant since 2009 so he may be ready to make that leap.
I don't know if Morey brings back JVG since he was the one who fired him almost ten years ago. He hasn't coached anywhere since and he might not be up to it anymore, especially because of how much the game has changed in the past decade.
Thibs is probably the most logical choice though he has that reputation now of running players into the ground.
Hollins has a couple of good seasons in Memphis but hasn't done much since.

Re: Head Coach
I'm going Luke Walton. Seems like a fresh way to go into the next phase of Rockets basketball and a guy who both played and respects the new school.
I can't vote TT since that would blow up in a couple seasons. JVG has been done for a decade now. He's a non-starter.
My second choice of this list would be Finch or TT.

I voted for Brooks. He was a former COTY. He got his team to the finals. Durant respected him and might be a good lure to bring KD to Houston as a free agent. Plus he's a former Rocket.

Yeah if KD says he wants Brooks we better hire him ASAP. Otherwise I'd rather not. He did make OKC a good defensive team though, this year they are terrible on that end

They also didn't choke in the fourth quarter every other game under Brooks

Re: Head Coach
Big Boy Thibs, but I really want him to bring in good offensive assistant coaches because we need that.
Imagine Thibs influencing Capela. He already has great feet and pretty good instincts, but he has room to grow even better with a guy like Thibs in his ear.

Re: Head Coach
Who is voting for JVG? This guys hasn't been on the bench in a decade and probably isn't the way to go. I get the sentimentality but not a good decision for the franchise.

Thibs will work his players to death. The man has no concept of minute restrictions.

Thibs never played Jimmy or Rose more than Harden played this season.

Hmmmm....you should check their per game averages. The only thing that prevented Thibs from playing them 40 minutes a night were injuries and minute restrictions from trainers.

Re: Head Coach
Jimmy Butler played slightly more per game last season but missed almost 20 more games.
The minutes thing with Thibs is a bit overstated. Those teams were not deep at all and with Rose he was almost the entire offense his MVP year like Harden this year

Re: Head Coach
I feel like we need a fresh approach and a refreshed roster (with KD on it). Therefore, Luke Walton is the pick. He's used to Rox philosophy and should have the respect of the players.
I don't want a re-tread (JVG, Brooks) or a hardass tyrant (TT) but I'll settle for whoever KD/Harden want.

Re: Head Coach
That's fair, I'm just not sold on Luke Walton, it's not like they were running his system exactly, he was just Kerr's representative on the bench. Messina from the Spurs is kind of the same thing, it could work out but it might fail miserably
