I'm coming around to the idea of picking a skilled PF. We picked Booker and Warren because they were considered the best at their specific skill. They had worries about everything else, but they gave our scouts a pathway to believing they could be top level.

I think Rabb has the standout skill (dual handed moves) as the best post-up player in the draft. If he can show athletic testing (has good spring / length) and shooting range (has the hand-eye ability) better than what is perceived, I think we'll like them alot for Washington's pick.

Not sure how much say Watson has on the draft, but his latest interview may give some insight on our future plans:
1) unified vision between FO, coaches and players
2) Our future is "the Killer B's" ( Booker Bledsoe and Brandon) - what a terrible nickname
3) Focus on building the supporting squad

How I read that:
- part of it is obvious BS and promo/deception
- we are still very much guard oriented
- we are comfortable with our offensive potential
- we will draft less ball- handling, more defense and shooting, in that order.

Overall, I smell a trend to draft Brown over Hield, Ingram over Simmons.

Anybody have access to Ford's new mock? I'm curious to see who he has us taking.

Watson could be gone by May, I don't know how much his words mean right now. It could also be a trade bate for Knight.

He has us taking two Euros in Bender/Korkmaz I would be less than thrilled. Rather go with Luwawu with our Wash pick, he's kinda reminds me of a shorter SG version of Batum

1. Sixers: Ben Simmons

2. Lakers: Brandon Ingram

3. Suns: Dragan Bender

4. Celtics: Jamal Murray

5. Timberwolves: Henry Ellenson

6. Pelicans: Buddy Hield

7. Kings: Kris Dunn

8. Nuggets: Jaylen Brown

9. Raptors: Marquese Chriss

10. Bucks: Jakob Poeltl

11. Magic: Ivan Rabb

12. Celtics: Deyonta Davis

Ulis at 14? Dayum. And neither Sabonis nor B Johnson in the lotto. Korkmaz has the talent to be selected 12, but that sure is a lot of shooting guards for one squad.

I don't know why they'd pass on Hield. They are worst (or among worst) 3 pt shooting teams in league. KT can already be somewhat of a floor stretching big or will be.

If they had a guy like Hield they would be unstoppable inside and out.

It sounds based on what I've heard about him is most think he is easily the best PG in the draft and the only reason he isn't maybe top 3 or 5 is his size. If he was say 6'4 he'd probably be top 5 or 6.

I like Felder a lot, but our 2nd round pick is so high that it's essentially a first rounder. In fact, it's arguably more valuable than a late 1st due to the unguaranteed contract. Felder is a guy we should go after if he isn't drafted, or trade into the 2nd later on to get imo. With our actual 2nd round pick, guys like the PG from Mississippi State should be there (hell even Melo Trimble in some mocks, though I doubt he falls that far), and both have a lot more potential than Felder.

I'd also like us to look at Kaleb Tarczewski if he isn't picked as our backup 5. He's very comfortable being a role player, plays very hard, and loves the things we'd need from that spot (defense, rebounding, setting hard screens, toughness). Plus, he's athletic enough to play in our system, which is tough to find with 7 footers.

But he is 5'9"-5'10". I don't see how he'll be all that good in the NBA. Maybe a TJ Ford type guy. I mean, he doesn't have the athleticisim of Nate Robinson and other tiny guys in the NBA, and he is going to struggle big time guarding today's 1s, who are almost all combo guards who score easily and have explosiveness. I know I'd be pissed if Phx took him that high. Hopefully somebody does though. Just means more talent for our later picks.

I assume you are talking about Ulis and not Hield who is discussed in the post you quote
..no way we take Ulis.

My bet is Bender at 3/4/5 and one of Johnson/Ellenson/Sabonis at 12/13.

Ulis can be a good option for us to be our backup PG.

With Price gone and Knight hopefully traded or at least playing only SG minutes (he can not play PG at all) we are going to need a good backup for Bledsoe.

I really like Ulis, great passer and can score the ball even with his size.
