This should seriously receive some attention from the league. It's an offense to the season ticket holders, and seems to have some hidden, under the table agreement with the Celtics written all over it.

This makes no sense on any level.

This only benefits one team, the Boston Celtics. I expect there is some under the table deal between Ainge and the Nets. Why would any team tank to make one of their prime competitors better going forward?

The Nets are not just benching any two players but by far their two best players after they dumped their best player, Joe Johnson.

The last commissioner stepped in when two players (Amare and Boris) peaked in at a mugging that happened to Steve Nash that quite possibly cost us a championship. Amare and Boris's actions had no effect on the game or integrity or the game. Stern had to protect the integrity of the game, right.

I really think the commissioner needs to step in. How about protecting the integrity of the game. This time it would make all the sense in the world.

Unfortunately he probably loves the Celtics.

Un freaking believable.

Lets just rest Knight, Booker, Telly, Len, and PJ for the rest of the season... I hope we are not too proud fools.

No we need to close it out on a high note, so we can build off the momentum! Who wants to play the pinballs when you can have a boost of morale?

Why are the Nets and Celtics prime competitors? Cause they're in the same division? Lol... Nba divisions mean nothing.

Maybe we cut a sweetheart deal with the Celtics to NOT rest our guys, hmm?

No, I don't think any of this is true. The Nets want to preserve their players, and they have every right two. Hell, they're basically the Nets' sole assets!

Who says no? You could also swap #12 for Len: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=j2dybpm

my immediate thought when seeing that was there has to be some under the table deal going on. Makes zero sense.

We need to trot a tanktastic starting line up of Price, Jenkings, Budinger, Leuer, Williams. Drastic times call for drastic measures, last thing I want is for those spoiled/undeserving Celts fans to have their cake and eat it to.

People are really over thinking this. Not having their pick shouldn't change anything they do. Brooklyn isn't motivated to get the 4th worst record instead of 3rd worst because they don't have a draft pick.

It doesn't matter, we are terrible even with our "starting " team of Knight, Booker,Tucker, Len and Chandler. We are gonna lose all of our last six games...or at least five of them.

Not a big deal.

Sorry Boston you are not getting that third pick. Nice try Ainge. We will most likely jump to #1 and Boston will get the #5

As much as I hate it, Brooklyn is probably viewing this as "sunk cost." In other words the damage is done. At this point they are finishing 3rd or 4th worst and either way, it doesn't matter.

Their two best building blocks are Brook and Thad. They need to preserve them for either trade value OR free agent selling pieces.

With no high draft picks for the next 2 years, their only hope at becoming relevant again is to either:

1. Get two free agents to sign max deals and add them to Brook and Thad (risky as it likely means overpaying). Example, they could try to max out Colony and Batum or even Barnes.

Colony
Bogdanovic
Batum
Thad
Brook

That doesn't excite me as a fan, but it could possibly be enough to beat out a heartless team like Washington for the 8th spot.

2. Sign some free agent bargains and move Thad and Brook in the offseason for young talent, expirings and picks.

This would be my preference as a fan. Get some young hungry guys in that play hard and save cap space for next year.

Either way, they need both Thad and Brook healthy.

Sucks for us. Maybe they win 1 or 2 more by complete accident.

We need to lose 3 of the last 4 at least. This way we tie the Nets as a worst case scenario

The last 3 are:

@ NOP
Sacramento
Clippers

The NOP and Sac games are dangerous as both teams are keeping their picks and both in a position to improve their lottery odds by losing.

The Clippers game is also dangerous as it is their last game of the season and they will likely be locked into the 4th spot by that time. They will probably want to rest their guys. Plus even if we play a skeleton Clippers team, Tony Robbins junior (PJ Tucker) will probably go off for 35 points just so we "end the season on a positive note." :banghead:

Didn't Knight sit with a stomach ache the other night and now Phoenix is sitting him for the rest of the season due to flaring of a sports hernia? Brooklyn only has five games left, what's the big deal about not risking injury with their two older vets and giving more time to see if anyone else has a shot to stay with the team? If don't see any difference between sitting Lopez for the last few games vs sitting Knight.

This should seriously receive some attention from the league. It's an offense to the season ticket holders, and seems to have some hidden, under the table agreement with the Celtics written all over it.

You do know that sitting vets has been a common practice, Phoenix is doing the same thing with Knight. Neither Young or Lopez has missed one game to injury this season, it makes no sense to risk injury when they are playing for anything, especially if Brooklyn wants to move them this offseason.

I understand resting due to previous injury (Knight), I understand resting for the playoffs, I even understand (but dislike) "resting" for tanking.
I don't understand resting for "the risk of a future injury" when there are 6 months left for your next pre season game.

You have guys paying tickets to see their team and their stars play. You should want to try to build something around your best players for next season. You should signal to you fan base that you actually care about winning.

Nets don't have their pick for the next three years why would they rebuild and trade their two best players?
