2016 Regular Season Thread

Post#1 » by Quake Griffin » Mon Apr 4, 2016 5:56 pm

I'm amped.
Contrary to popular (ESPN) opinion, I am excied about this team.

Let's get this done.

1st thing I'm looking for out of the gate is Puig's demeanor, effort, quality of bats.

Let's go get this WS.

Lineup today:

Utley
Seager
Turner
Gonzalez
Puig
Crawford
Pederson
Ellis
Kershaw

think I'd like Puig at lead off because I'd imagine he gets on base better than Utley at this point.
But Utley is 10 times the base runner he is.

Glad to see Seager batting 2nd…hopefully he can hang in that hole for most of the year.

feeling funny posting all by myself in here but the ump is calling far outside against the lefties a strike and not calling inside edge or the inside and low corner at all. but his zone is entirely different when the righties come up and it is not exactly a mirror image either.

now for the bottom of the first the ump is calling the same zone against the righties as he did with lefties in the top of the inning.

WUT now he calls the inside pitch a strike on a lefty Joc? WTF is up with this ump? his strike zone is more like a pancake with a flexible borders that goes in and out at anytime.

Umpires Nothing More Than Window Dressing?

Post#10 » by Ranma » Tue Apr 5, 2016 12:58 am

I guess the Dodger hitters have made the adjustments to the ump's moving strike zone. Kershaw is doing pretty well himself, but I hate the idea of an inconsistent strike zone. Turner just struck out on a questionable call, which Vin called a "mercy call". The sooner we get to automated strike-zone rulings, the better.

dodgers explode in the 6th and scores 8 runs and chase Tyson Ross off the mound, but come on ump, that low fastball he called the third strike to Turner to end the inning was definitely a ball 6 inches below the knees.

I agree, the technology for an automated system cannot be that much. I hate games where teams lose on a bad call at the plate or misjudging a foul ball, and worse when runners are called out when safe or visa versa.

Yes, the strike zone was inconsistent early on....frustrating...would have been here if I knew you guys were in on this thread for tonight.

Puig and Joc with bounce back nights after early, unsettling Ks.

Trayce Thompson taking over for CC in left. Love the move.
And the kid comes and doubles in a run in his 1st at bat too.
I'd rather him start in LF but whatever.
