Such a good AB by Puig.
Thought he was done after that check swing.
Neddy if you're not watching….Kaz is looking like he's 89-90 tonight.

Padres' Outfield Defense
Jay and Kemp both took bad routes on the last two fly balls in the outfield. The difference is Kemp was able to recover to make the diving catch while Jay didn't. 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and Puig at the plate.
The ump calls a ball low and in outside of the strike zone for a 2nd strike on Yasiel.
No matter. Puig gets his 2nd triple in 2 nights to drive in 2 runs. He then scores on the single from Crawford in the following at-bat.

Seager with a 3 hit night so far.
Puig cooking with gas as well.
What a tandem it could be.

I love how Corey was aggressive in reading that play as being a double right out of the batter's box.

I view him as a literal #2.
Like if you're scouting a player and you say he has #2 potential aka not an ace but going to be pretty good.
Some may haggle with that because they expect us to feature two #1s in the 1 and 2 slots because we had Greinke or the Mets feature three #1s.
But hey, if he gives us around 180 IP and an ERA in the low 3s, I'm not complaining.

Re: 2016 Regular Season Thread
I have no clue of what Scott might have said in the dugout to Dave to warrent pulling him out so early relative to his pitch count, but I also don't think its a bad idea to bring up the winning team from the pen in second game of the season. I beliieve Maeda would probably go deeper than 6 innings unless a disaster happens. I think our bullpen may need some work before the San Fran series.
ehhhhh f it.

Re: 2016 Regular Season Thread
Anybody else utterly disappointed Montas couldn't compete for a job in the pen this spring?
98-100 MPH gas with a plus slider.
Baez, him, Hatcher…all 97+
with Kenley (who can dial it up to 96 I think) and his 13 Ks per 9 and that unhittable cutter.
plus Coleman's funky 3rd base side delivery?

Frankie Montas and Dave Roberts
I was really disappointed in his injury more so than him not being able to contribute right away this season since the Dodgers were trying to stretch him out as a starter. I'm primarily concerned with the extent of him being damaged goods. Obviously, I expected him to contribute some time this season, but the long-term effects of his surgery occupy my thoughts on him more than anything.
I know it's early but I like the buttons our new manager, "Doc", is pushing. I like how opportunistically aggressive we are on the basepaths and with the threats of bunting when the opponent's defense employs the shift to try to keep it honest. Plus, the fact that I presume he is encouraging his players to be truthful with their health allows him to employ caution in handling Kazmir. Bringing Baez's heat to immediately follow Kaz's controlled pitching is a good way to keep the opposing batters off-balance.

Yeah. I'm hoping missing your top rib isn't that big of a deal. Maybe this is a question that should be tweeted to Dr. Klapper.
Damn….Austin got nothing going at the dish tonight.
better luck next time.
