did he really believe he was just going to get 10 years to do whatever the hell he wanted with no repercussions?
Didn't have the guts to stick around? This takes way more guts.
If he was about to lose final say to Bryan Colangelo he couldn't live with that. He is a 38 year old executive. He will have plenty of other opportunities. The last thing he needs is to be insulted.

I figured Hinkie was gone, so even though it p****s me off, I'll get over it.
Speaking for myself, I will give them the draft and FA and see what they do. I highly doubt Bryan f*****g Colangelo will impress me.
Expecting to be a Hawks fan by next September.
Just come on over to our board when your ready

Re: Sam Hinkie steps down per Marc Stein
people acting like this is the most disgraceful thing ever need to be honest with themselves for a minute.
Hinkie sort of brought this on himself.
Part of your frustration should be based towards him, even if you think he had the right overall plan as a GM
dude was a socially inept wimp, who allowed the narrative surrounding the Sixers to get out of control and had no idea how to be a GM outside of the basketball aspect of it. Made zero effort to put any veterans on the team or even give the impression he cared about surrounding the 19 year olds with vets. which he could have easily done without sacrificing the process at all.

Re: Sam Hinkie steps down per Marc Stein
when I saw BC's name in Woj's tweet...I literally almost fell sick.
I don't know if I can tune into basketball for a while fellows. I'm emotionally drained. 3 years I defended The Process to anybody and everybody who would listen...even if they never brought up 76ers. And trust me it's not easy given I live in Warrior Nation. I dreamed we would be chasing the 72 win mark in 4-5 years, but the mismanagement that is to befall us has robbed us of the fruits of 3 years of patience.
Sam Hinkie goes down as a martyr.

Man this piss me the hell off, I was all in with going for broke. Now, I am afraid we are going back to being a treadmill team because we want to play it safe and sign NBA journeymans to overpriced contract.

Guts?
They wanted to essentially strip him of his duties and have him do everything hand in hand with old ass Jerry and his son.
Hinkie had the balls to say, this isn't gonna work and bounced.

But if that three headed monster (well, 2 headed monster, and Hinkie) were to suck, then it would be Hinkie as the fall guy.
Let it be clear, the Sixers called Hinkie's supposed "bluff", Hinkie drops out, still a top GM prospect with bottomfeeders probably dying to pick him up. They'd be stupid not to.
I'm not jumping off the bandwagon, I think we can win and keep this ship in the right direction. I just kinda feel like UNC felt the other night right now.

There is a lot more to it than signing Elton Brand and starting Carl Landry

You from GA?
Relocated to ATL area for work. Could also choose WSH or DEN or ORL for family. I pretty much consider myself a FA at this point.

Re: Sam Hinkie steps down per Marc Stein
I wonder if we will sign Landry Fields to a big deal this summer?

I think really the only saving grace is that Brian has to probably run all his decisions through his daddy first which despite the issue I have with the way Sam was treated is a very good executive.
His track record in PHX was actually not bad which is why he was given the TOR job to begin with.

I see the ATL area contingency is strong. Who do the hawks even hate? I just get hammered at CNN when I go to games, I can't pretend to get emotionally invested.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

I'm in ATL myself. Need any furniture? Looking to leave soon, haha.
