so he got alot of time tonight and SJ thankfully did not play. Is this move permanent for the rest of the season??? If so we could actually be competitive in round 1

Stanley has struggled since his injury and thankfully svg gave bullock the chance. I think for right now you just have to roll with bullock and hopefully give Stanley some minutes too. I like the idea of playing bullock and Johnson together if the match ups work because Johnson is still a very capable defender, but his offence has been off for a few weeks.
Bullock has been super reliable and should play in front of Stanley for now.

Stanley has struggled in all but 10 games or so of his rookie season.

As much as I love the future of Stanley Johnson, and as much as it pains me to agree with Maker... yep, this is right move. Stanley got a DNP-CD tonight and deserved it with his recent play. Bullock was awesome and better continue to get 20 minutes a night if he plays well. We're currently a better team with him on the floor.

When Bullock plays 26 minutes or more, the Pistons are 5-0.

In those games, he's avg 11 pts, 4 rebs, 2 ast on 49% FG and 57% 3FG, with a +6 avg plus/minus.

Stanley should sit and watch Bullock play for the next game or two. Then he'll get another shot and it also depends on Tolliver too. But Stanley needs to come back with revenge and work hard in the offseason. He's got so potential and could take this team off the charts. It's gonna be great to watch him develop. If there's something that's a guarantee from Stanley, it's that he works his *** off and you can tell he plays hard. He's just not right in the head and rhythm right now and should just take a break. I think eventually it'll come back to him. He's really athletic, just doesn't know how to use it yet.

At this point to make noise of any kind we need consistent shooting. Him and Jackson have been it so far.

Bull earnt his time while dudes were out injured. Like any reasonable coach SVG went with those dudes when they returned.

SJ played his way out of the line up - he didnt lose his spot to injury.

Full credit to Bull for pushing his case. Full credit to SVG for not screwing the returnees due to injury.

Again, wins and losses are irrelevant - it's about setting a standard/culture within the group

Bullock deserves to keep playing over Stanley for more than a game or two. He deserves a legit shot to remain in the rotation just like Stanley was given more than a fair share of games to work out his kinks. Stan needs to earn his minutes and outplay other guys (in practice) just like everybody else.

I'd prefer to see Bullock take all of Stanley AND Tolliver's minutes.

Blake (because there's really no other choice)
Bullock
Baynes

8 man rotation. Stop the madness, and let the our best 8 players take 95% of the minutes. Going to your 9th and 10th man in the rotation is only needed in case of foul trouble, injury, blowouts, etc...

Bullock was great last night. SJ has really struggled since the shoulder injury, and coach did what was right. SJ needs to be sat down when he is as ineffective as he has been of late. That said, Bullock cannot take Tolliver's minutes. AT is not a great backup PF, but Bullock is not a PF at all.

SJ may still get some run, as his physical brand of defense may be the right thing in some situations. I trust SVG to manage his rotations.

I don't think anyone expects him to play PF. Basically Marcus or Tobias would play backup PF and Bullock would play at SF.
Usually one of Tobias or Marcus is in the game at SF while Tolliver is at PF.

I want to preface this by stating that I am a big believer in SJ and that I think he will eventually be great for us, but this was absolutely the right move. Now is not the time to be tolerating the rookie wall, now is not the time for teenagers to be working on their game. Bullock has absolutely earned the right to play more minutes and I'm glad to see him getting them. I had high hopes for Bullock at the beginning of the season and after a bunch DNP-CDs I'm starting to feel validated in my belief. I absolutely expect Johnson to bounce back next year and attack this offseason with a vengeance, but to me this move was more about Bullock earning the minutes and taking the rotation spot from Stanley, a hard learned lesson the youngster, but one that I believe will pay dividends in the future. How secure is SJ going to feel about his spot in the rotation at any point next year? He's gonna be hungry, he's gonna be a killer in the next year or two. I hope we can find a roll for Bullock next year, cuz he's earning it.

SJ needs to get used to the NBA speed. He has the talent but it is going to take time for him to understand his own strengths and weaknesses at this level.

Bullock absolutely deserves all the PT he is getting right now (well...he never should have lost any PT in the first place).

SJ is a 19 year old rookie. Tolliver, on the other hand, is a 30-year old journeyman. His minutes need to go down considerably. Other than being SVG's favorite bench player, I'm not sure what he brings the he table.

Bullock earned his time in the rotation for sure, its just a little bit confusing SVG never tried a 10 man rotation ONCE this season when SJ was playing well.
