Could Jackson & KCP get us a Star player?

Post#1 » by GSR121 » Thu Apr 7, 2016 2:35 am

I have been wondering if we could combine two or three of our "good" players in a trade to get us a "great player. Both Jackson and KCP are good player that have holes in their games. Jackson can't play defense if his life depended on it, and KCP runs as hot or cold as you can get. Morris is another guy I would lump in that group of "good but not great" players. The question is, can we get a substantial upgrade in talent for two of those guys?

Potentially, sure, we could combine two players and get a better one. The problem here is, you're not offering any solution and you're just pointing out that our guys have holes in their games.
Unless someone offers a sizeable upgrade at either pg or sg (I'm talking top 5/all star) we are much better off keeping our young guys and developing them. I'm not a huge fan of reggie, but the guy is a very capable player. I don't think there's too many clearly better PGs out there that we could get. Especially not at the price of also giving up our best defender who is young and still improving each year.

It would be hard to get a better PG then Jackson as he can still carry the team to wins and stuff. IDK what kind of offer would be out there to even deal both of them like that.

If' we're getting Durant, then sure, I'd be personally buying their tickets to get them out.

But nope, not any time soon. They're gonna be here a LOOOOOONG time.

To add to that we've won 10 more games than we did last season

We are in a far better place organization wise

The team has chemistry for the first time since the Goin to Work squad

One thing is for sure, SVG is not afraid to pull the trade trigger if there is an opportunity to upgrade the talent level. Anyway unless an absolut difference maker is available there is no way any of the starting 5 guys gets traded. Consistency is a huge factor building a good to great team and the talent level we ve got right now is just fine, just need some minor reinforcements in the summer.

First winning season in 8 years - check
On the verge of playoffs - check
Core in their early 20's - check
SVG can now comfortably think about tweaking the team, not an overhaul.
If NO calls about giving us Anthony Davis, well there you go, but we live in the real world. Time to let this team grow.

There's a better chance that one of these two develops into a star.

Better off trading a guy who cant play the 4th quarter in drummond if we're being honest here.

A Top-10 perimeter defender and a Top-5 clutch player...

So... if we could get Chris Paul and Redick, yes, but this is the real world

Oh come on, if Minnesota said we'll send you KAT for them, tell me you wouldn't? Yeah, you're absolutely right. What is likely to happen in the real world is just messing with a winning combination.

The players I'd accept it for likely wouldn't be offered.
