The plan already felt like a bad deal because I could get a bunch of games for cheaper on NBA ticket exchange, and with higher prices and a low likelihood of making the playoffs, it was a no-brainer not to renew.

I think a lot of STHs are doing the same. The deadline to renew was supposed to be 2 weeks ago, but they emailed me yesterday saying its not too late to renew. I'm all for boycotting so that the greedy owner learns his lesson.

Why'd this guy get banned?

EVERYBODY STOP PLAYING BACKSEAT MOD. Enough already.

If you HAVE to know, he was banned month ago on another board. He emailed admins saying he understood what he did wrong, got reinstated. The system just hasn't updated his status but it's outdated. He's currently a member in good standing.

We don't ban people here much. AGAIN, 3 people in 10+ years. So everyone just chill about modding.

Not trying to play backseat mod at all. I just found it weird that a dude with 2 posts got banned. Personally I don't really care. *shrugs*

I can get the same seats at 60% of my cost. I refuse to spend my hard earned money to support an organization that doesn't promote excellence. If money is the main motivation for owning the team (which there is nothing wrong with that), then I've re-adjusted how I'm dealing with this org.

The Wizards are like a bad stock. There are people who can justify why they own it from $100 to $20. They come up with excuses like 'people love movies so there will always be a blockbusters.' Well a bad investment is a bad investment. The first three letters of fanatic is fan. Owners like this count on fans being unreasonable. If I was a Sixers STH, I'd still have tickets because I believe in the plan. Six years ago when I signed up, I believed in the plan. However management is all over the place with zero future planning and 'knee jerk' reactions to self inflicted problems....I can't get behind that. The KD2DC movement makes sense if you think about it on the surface....just like getting into Harvard. However, what are the odds? Are you sling blade or bill gates? Wiz vs OKC. This org had a 20% chance to get kD. But they forgot that most teams will be flush with cash. We needed to be an elite org (ABLE TO HANDLE INJURIES) and we can't. We should have gotten Morris earlier vs at the deadline.

The worst thing about all this is I planned to take my daughter to games for a long time. This was going to be our thing. However for the same amount of money, our thing will be other things.

They've probably lost a big STH forever.

The KD plan made sense, but they forgot to tell the players to take every regular season game seriously because Durant isn't going to a 40-win team that misses the playoffs. This team showed an embarrassing level of inconsistency and effort all year. The only guys I felt came to play every night, both mentally and physically, were Gortat and Temple.

I'm not sure about that. The problem is that if it fails you have just mortgaged the future. Many clubs have had plans for superstars...Houston and San Antonio. Some accidentally got super stars...Clevland. The difference is that they played for the season in front of them, vs a few seasons away.

Do people that go to the games even care what the product on the court is like?

Back when we had season tickets (haven't gone in 3 years, 60 inch HDTV, una cerveza, no pants, tinder, and chinese food is a way better evening than standing in the Gal Pl-Chinatown stop with a bunch of animals clawing to get on to the train) the guy in front of me, who showed up to every single game I attended, would bring 3 newspapers and read them back to back.

I feel like the game is something DC button ups go to so that they don't have to spend 3 hours with their wives, rather than a place true fans go to watch quality basketball.

I actually disagree. I remember when I first got my season tickets and you could get baller floor seats with zero issue. 6 years ago I got center aisle seats in the 100's. This could get bad quickly if people like myself decide it is not worth it. Most of the people in seats now are "newish" STHs (i.e. less than 3yrs with tickets). 2 years ago, 85% of my row was not sold to STHs. It takes 1 of me to replace 20 400 row STHs. Next year will be interesting.

I define INcompetency thusly
He selected Oleksiy Pecherov (No. 18, before Rajon Rondo and Kyle Lowry) and Vladimir Veremeenko (No. 48), who combined to play just 1,044 career NBA minutes, in the 2006 draft.
He traded a first-round pick and Antonio Daniels for Javaris Crittenton and Mike James.
He traded Pecherov, Darius Songaila, Etan Thomas and the No. 5 pick in the 2009 draft (which could have been Steph Curry, Ricky Rubio, DeMar DeRozan or Brandon Jennings) for Randy Foye and Mike Miller, who were both out of Washington after the season.
He spent first-round draft picks in 2011 on Jan Vesely (No. 6, which could have been Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Nikola Vucevic, or Markieff or Marcus Morris) and Chris Singleton (No. 18, which could have been Tobias Harris, Kenneth Faried, Nikola Mirotic, Reggie Jackson or Jimmy Butler).
He drafted Tomas Satoransky at No. 32 in 2012, right before players such as Jae Crowder, Draymond Green and Khris Middleton were selected.
He selected future Western Conference Rookie of the Year Jordan Clarkson with the 46th pick in 2014, then he traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers for “cash considerations.”
He traded two future second-round picks to move up four picks to select Kelly Oubre, who has hardly played in his rookie season.
He traded a first-round pick that was only top-9 protected for Markieff Morris in a deal many thought the Phoenix Suns got the better of, in part because the pick likely could have been fully lottery protected.

Those are some of the reasons the ACTUAL RESULTS over the last 13 YEARS are:
.421 winning percentage (24th best and closer to 26th than to 23rd) basically bottom 20% of teams.
Peak win total of 46 games.

Those are the empirical results and to attempt to define them as other than mediocre,
and that's being kind, shows a level of irrationality that shouldn't be taken seriously.

Stick around if you want Millie. I not a 'banner' but don't be surprised if your attempts
at conversation become more difficult as more and more people put you on ignore.
A lot of what we call 'thought' is just mental activity

How about just supporting the team, sit back and watch a big part of this rebuild play out?

The time to get really pissed is in like 2 years from now if things don’t work out.

Right now, everything is still on course.

I appreciate for once this team is approaching things with a long term plan. Some see moves like Gortat or Morris as patch jobs. But they weren’t. Gortat has been our center for 3 years now and will be again next year. Morris is signed for multiple years and is a young big strong PF/S4 we needed with Nene’s contract expiring. We have Wall 25, Beal 22, Otto 22, Oubre 20. You have young talented pieces and we have cap.

That is a result of long term planning that we are here. This was not the case during the Pollin regime. So complaining that ownership is totally screwing up ? That really isn’t happening.

Ted plans to deliver on that long term vision. Does it take time? Yes. But now is not the time to revolt.

They fell short this one year. Things happen such as injuries that are out of everyone's control. But its not like that changes all the good stuff still in place.

If you are the type to get overly negative, then I guess this is a good time for you. But this off season is what they planned for. This was a bridge year. We knew that. An exciting summer of free agency is approaching. Lets see what they do with that before having a major owenership melt down.

I got a fair amount of positive feedback on it from fellow fans.
No one gave me negative feedback.
I was somewhat disappointed that the print media guys who sit right below
me seemed completely uninterested when I walked down and tried to get them
to look at the sign.

Still on course? Did this navigation plan include missing the playoffs while trading away a lotto pick?

The notion that we are still early in a rebuild phase is flawed. Wall has already peaked. Gortat is past his prime. Morris is at his peak. Beal and Porter may have a bit of upside left, but not much. It's not like they're going to explode into superstars. They are what they are, respectable starters, no more. I don't see where you expect this improvement to come from. We have cap room, but unless we land one of the two young players with star potential (Durant or Whiteside) we are simply going to use that cap room to replace our departing veterans (Nene, Sessions, Temple, Dudley) with similar role playing veterans (on bigger contracts).

The bright side I see: millie has FINALLY acknowledged the possibility that the "rebuild" could fail.

As for nate's analysis: yup. This is the 6th year of the team's "rebuild". Maybe it would have been nice if they'd done a rebuild instead of using spackle and duct tape to "contend" for the playoffs in a historically weak conference.
