Infinite Llamas wrote:There are really no flaws in his offensive game. He can get by his man regularly (except when Rubio is defending him), is money from the corner 3, excellent finisher at the basket that's rarely blocked despite his size...and is a pretty good passer that routinely finds the open man. His ability to change speeds can really break down a defense and he has a sweet midrange game when the paint is congested. His ability to draw fouls is pretty elite too.

I think his defense isn't the best, but he certainly tries and can even keep his man in front of him due to his deceiving strength. As expected, he really can't contest shots or rebound, but the effort is always there and he seems to make the right rotations. Def not a "two way" player, but not as bad a defender as people often assume.

I really think he's a special player and the Celtics would be lucky to amass 25 wins if he didn't play on this team. No joke. The offense is soooooooo bad when he isn't in the game. He should be considered for All-NBA third team. He's the leader of a 45+ win team and the team follows him all the way.
I have seen him abuse Rubio before, agreed on everything.

I really don't understand why Wall is so highly rated by some here, he has been very subpar compared to his potential this season. People need to look through the name and the fame and look at the game.

I agree with what a lot of people say here though, but honestly it's all about his playoff performance, if he wants that Lillard level of hype. He was subpar vs Cavs last year, I am sure he is fired up for this year though.

Not elite and never will be. Is good but still overrated.

And... the main reason why I think the Celtics will drop off next year.

He's an elite player offensively. Honestly i've been saying this for a while and got ridiculed a few times but he's just as good as Dame. Dame rebounds slightly better while Thomas is slightly more efficient scoring the basketball.

And when you consider salaries, you have to take Thomas 10 times out of 10. Great player.

If he was taller his defense would be a lot better and he'd be in prime Chris Paul territory. He'd have worse court vision, but he's a better scorer. So hell yeah he'd be paid a lot more.

Don't see anyone arguing that he is among Cp3/Curry but I don't see why you would think the Celtics drop off when they have enough cap for 2 max players and a top 5 pick that they are adding to a potential 50 win team. Frankly, it impossible to tell how the Celtics will look next season because of only having 8 or 9 guys on contract this summer. It's quite possible the team looks completely different especially if they cash in on some of their assets.

I'm going to say he's pretty damn good, when I take in to account that he's the size of probably most people on this board. When your that small, you have to do everything two times harder to make as far as he's made it.

did someone really call iguodala one of the best wing defenders of all time?

-he was first team all-nba defense once, and on the team overall just twice
-he was never, at any point, the best wing defender in the league
-never top 10 at his position in DWS/PPP allowed/DRAPM

he is a very good defender, in his prime he was one of the best on the wing. he is nowhere near GOAT wing defender though. and certainly today he isnt one of the top wing defenders.

The Celtics are in position to improve drastically this offseason. If all they do is bring back Turner and Sully and then take one of Ingram/Simmons/Hield, you wouldnt see a drop off.

I expect Danny to trade the pick and bring back an all star caliber guy without digging into the IT, Crowder, Bradley core.

my favorite thing about IT is how **** pumped he gets when someone tries to post him up. it's like when godzilla gets hit by lightning and instead of folding he just gets stronger and more pissed off.

i mean he'll always be limited on defense of course (whereas on offense I swear his size is an advantage.. the guy is brilliant). but the fact that he puts so much **** heart into his defense means a lot, i think. if he were my teammate i'd love it when he defends in the post. it would pump me up

He's very good, but I don't think his effectiveness would translate to a lot of NBA teams. The Celtics are perfect for him since he can command the ball and offense so much. I don't know if he's a championship point.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

He is a monster. To get things done in the NBA as a 5'9 player is very hard. You need to be a stud.

But he will always get underrated because of his size. 3 more inches and people would see him as a franchise player.
Shaq on Duncan:SA won because of TD, a guy I could never break.I could talk trash to Ewing, get in D-Rob's face, get a rise out of Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and say:“Hey,Shaq, watch this shot right off the glass.”

IT is a beast. Speed kills and he's probably the fastest guard in the league. While he is undersized his heart makes up for it. I hate the fact the Kings gave him up for nothing. Darren Collison is a good player, but IT is a tier above him. Curry, Westbrook and Paul are better but I'm not so sure about anyone else.

thierry wrote:He's around the 7th-10th best PG in the league

For sure better:
Curry
Paul
Lillard
Westbrook
Lowry
Wall

In his territory:
Walker
Bledsoe
Conley
Irving

I like him and also think that he could improve into the franchise player the C's need. So far I agree with the list above, but actually have some doubts about Walker/Irving being better overall.
