KCP is polarizing because as we all love his effort on defense, he is literally lacking a brain on offense. He shoots down 2 picture perfect jumpers, only to follow it up with 2 air balls. Dude just is so terribly erratic on offense. He drives all the way to the rim to miss a 3 foot layup, or misses an 8 foot pull up. He's just so bad at some of the "simple" plays on offense. He can nail a 28 footer but then miss a 4 footer in the lane more often than he makes it. Or he comes down on a fast break and pulls up for a clanking 3 pointer and the possession is wasted from a poor shot choice. Dude has NO OFFENSIVE IQ. Love his effort and heart, but it's PAINFUL to watch him when he has to think with the ball in his hands.

terrible 3 point shooter, can't creat for others, can't even dribble under pressure.

Top-10 perimeter defenders, streaky shooter who can have off nights but can get hot and break a game.

he is not streaky shooter, he is consistently bad one.

Well speaking from experience the content of these game threads is why I no longer post much if at all in them...constructive criticism is fine and welcome...this **** is cancer to read through...it's pretty much everyone's personal soapbox to vent..

Emotions run high during the game, everyone uses the thread to vent. I realize that a lot of stupid posts are made.
BUT why every game does someone have to come in and make a high and mighty remark AFTER the game about everyone overreacting? (Example: Post directly above mine)
We didn't play well for most of the game, SVG also said he wasn't satisfied with our performance.

If people don't want to post in the game thread, whatever, but it's funny that they wait until they see that the team wins before they come in and make some kind of remark bashing on posters in the game thread.

We should go 60-20 or something like that for some posters here. I remember that hilarious post "Are we contenders?"

Time to grow up guys.

Apparently i'm delusional, but the guy that said we would be nearly tied for the 1st seed in the East if we had Tobias all season... that guy is not delusional?

What have I said that is irrational?
We don't need to go 60-20, we need to just come in and TRY for 4 quarters, which is all I can ask for. I don't care if we win or lose every game, I just want to watch a team that looks like they give a damn.

People need to grow up you say? Calm down, you literally started posting here 24 days ago.

Arp590 wrote:Typical game thread. People coming in making excuses for poor play, laziness, how about some accountability?
Are some of you guys content with mediocrity? Stan Van Gundy has said it himself, do you guys give SVG a call after the game and say "Chill out Stan we're a young team"

Yeah it's great this is our first winning season in a while, but we're playing like **** and we barely win against teams beneath us.
Being content doesn't result in success, not trying until the 4th quarter is not something a young team should make a habit of.

Game Threads in a nutshell:
-Team plays like ****, posters comment on team playing like ****
-Several posters lurk in the shadows without posting, debateable if they are even watching the game
-Team barely squeaks out a win
-The lurking posters suddenly come out of nowhere "I'm glad I didn't visit the game thread, you guys all overreact"

Great season, great time to be a Piston's fan, but jesus stop making excuses for poor play. Stop calling out other people for wanting to hold our players accountable.

Since I posted early in this thread, is it okay that I make a reply?

I gather choosing to just watch the game and make comments based upon its entirety is now lurking?

I love reading game threads. You have to find the entertainment value of comments like:
-lazy
-f* this team
-this team $ucks
-mentally weak team
-cumulative IQ of a turnip
-basketball IQ of a middle schooler
-idiots
-'bench player has more basketball IQ than entire team and the coach'
It's why I block no posters.

Just an FYI, none of us are in a position to hold the players accountable. That's SVG's job, and he's done that even if it hasn't been exactly to the timetable some would wish. In typical "homer" fashion, I will allow that SVG knows more about coaching an NBA team than any poster on this board.

"Debatable if they are even watching the game" is purely gratuitous. Most who aren't or didn't watch the game qualify it in their comments. It doesn't always follow that someone who disagrees with you lacks information.

Apparently, not joining in the emotional catharsis that is the during the game part of the thread but commenting later evokes feelings of persecution? I'll make this comment although it seems to anger some; but relax, post what you want, and we all don't have to agree. I think all Piston fans want them to be great, and I doubt anyone is satisfied with mediocrity. How quickly you can get to great is a matter of differing opinions. Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, we more patient types are labeled "misguided slappies" etc., for sharing our opinions. I try not to let it keep me up nights.

Good win, if not a thing of beauty. One to go to make the playoffs certain, and the value of that experience should not be discounted. Looking forward to the next game thread.

zeebneeb wrote:You know what? **** it. The Pistons have a winning season, and are, unless something just unbelievable happens, going to the playoffs.

Just 18 months removed from the **** abortion the Pistons were trotting out on the court on a nightly basis.

I will celebrate their success instead of making threads about trading starting players for more talent 22 games into a starting lineup and right after a win. Instead of complaining constantly about the very players who got the team to this point, and are growing and maturing both as players, and adults. Instead of incessantly pointing out obvious problems over and over and over again, I'll recognize the team is brand new and young. (Holy **** guess what? Yeah I get that Reggie's defense is a problem and that drummond has motivation issues but you know what? I don't give a **** as I'm excited my hometown team is finally in the playoffs again)

Could the team be better? Of course and I'll expect that next **** year not 22 games into a new starting lineup. If the team is this inconsistent 40 games next year then criticisms will absolutely make sense.

22 games in? 18 months removed from horrific horrible basketball?

PLAYOFFS.

YAY I GUESS.

This!!

Of course, we've been around long enough to experience the ebbs and flows of a franchise. I don't think the couple of posters who have multiple accounts to talk to themselves, have experienced that yet.

I agree. Doesn't mean he's a bust, doesn't mean he won't be a better player than Booker, Winslow, etc.. But right now I think we should be going with Bullock. No shame in that.

I like how KCP plays with Bullock. The biggest gripe with him is his low BBIQ/decision making and shooting. All things Bullock excels at. So not only does it cover some of KCPs weaknesses playing with a guy like that, but also has a tendency to rub off on him in a lead-by-example way. When Bullock passes up a good shot to get a teammate an even better one and it works, KCP tends to do the same the next time down. When KCP misses a 3, it's not so detrimental anymore because Bullock will make one the next time down. When the paint is packed because guys cheat off KCP, it's not quite as detrimental because Bullock is attracting an extra defender that Marcus/Harris/Stanley weren't. They seem to have a good chemistry and play well off each other too.
