Oh my gawd. Hinkie stepped down. Wait, wasn't he a genius who set up the 76ers for decades of contention decades of nowZ quick, fire ainge for not doing the Hinkie tank strategy. In 20 years, when the sixers do make the playoffs again, they can thank Hinkie for it.

Still think the 76ers are gonna be fine.

Not the worst case to have 2 potential top 5 picks, Embiid & Saric coming to play, & having 50+mil in cap, while your young guys are gonna be better.

I think the tank idea was good, but I don't think they executed it well enough. Really think by the end of summer, this whole thing will be overblown & they 76ers will have a very young, exciting up & coming team, with a lot of assets & can develop them until the superstar trade demand comes around.

No team is fine with Bryan Colangelo at the helm. He is an intept satan. D'Antoni will be hired and the Sixers will be sold. **** this incompetent organization. They don't want to win anything.

I'm done with the Sixers. Maybe I will finally go to a Phillies game and get spat on in my Sox gear.

I don't want to come off stupid, but I don't get why he is so bad? Seems like he had some good, some bad moves in Toronto. Phoenix he had less bad moves. Seems pretty solid drafting wise (where I think Philly screwed up the most).

Whats so wrong with him? I'm actually asking because I feel less informed lol.

Started to write out a long explanation but **** it:

If you want the details, I'm sure the folks on the Raptors forum would be happy to reminisce.

See my post in the Hinkie thread. Colangelo is the king of band-aid fixes. I guess he's good in that he'll keep a casual fan base interested by constantly making trades and signings. However, he ruined the Raptors thanks to his insistence on building around Bargnani. Guy had to leave the organization before they finally let go of Bargs.

Also, I do think what Colangelo did is somewhat of a snake move, considering the fact that he, himself, was in a very similar situation to Hinkie. The Raps brought Masai Ujiri on board and promoted Colangelo to president. He then quit after a few weeks, because he knew he had no more say in player personnel decisions. Kind of sad that he pulled the same move.......but this was worse, seeing as how daddy had to pull a few strings for it to happen. (Colangelo failed to get the Nets job a few weeks ago).

****. Had this pegged as a loss for the Hawks. They may well win out now and take third if we don't beat them on the road...going to be tough.

K.C. Johnson @KCJHoop
Despite what both sides said publicly at trade deadline, the surprise now will be if Pau Gasol is on Bulls next season.

Of course, they lost an asset or multiple smaller because of reasons only Bulls FO understands.

I love KG......but man, no wonder there were rumors he was being shopped by the Wolves. That dude is going to collect every penny owed on that contract.

Team Stats
41.4% FG
31.8% 3FG
46% AdjFG

With Kobe taking a large portion of the shots while shooting 35.2% fg, and 28.2% from three. He is actually shooting worse than Smart's career averages. Kobe looks like he will be a huge addition by subtraction. This season was a blatant side show for the Lakers, while they were trotting Kobe around so that he can have his special moments. Meanwhile, the rest of the team is saying,"Hey, why is this guy still playing, he sucks".

I totally get that part. But can't Byron at least establish a decent defensive system and motivate his players to implement it while giving Kobe his farewell tour? I guess young players won't put in the effort on defense if they're just Kobe spectators on offense. The Sixers at least last season went up to top 12 defense, IIRC. It annoys me that some FAs still look to the Lakers as a destination when they've done nothing to deserve it past 2-3 seasons while the Celtics bust their asses off just to get a meeting.

The Lakers are the team with the brightest spotlight. Warm weather, celebrities, and trying to become the next Shaq/Kobe/Magic is a big needle mover for spotlight seeking players. The good news is that there is a good chance that they will sign someone this offseason with the hopes and promises of a super bright spotlight, only to have them find a bunch of empty seats at the beginning and end of games.

It will be interesting to see what happens this offseason. Brooklyn, LA, and Miami should all be top destinations based on perception, but I don't think they will be.

Nba.com lists 6 candidates for coach of the year. Brad Stevens not among them. Danny Ainge also didn't make the cut for GM of the year candidates despite acquiring Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder and Amir Johnson over the past 18 months. I guess winning 47+ games, having every key player locked up with a team friendly contract, and still having a top 5 pick earns you nothing.

Toronto was pretty bad overall. He was let go for a reason and most Raptor fans wanted him gone way before that.

Phoenix he perhaps did a good job overall but Phoenix shows one issue with both Colangelo's.

Do they really value defense enough? In two different eras, they assembled teams with a great deal of talent but that were also fundamentally flawed.

Small ball can win championships but teams that can't defend normally don't make it through 4 playoff series.

Barkley said the Suns couldn't defend well enough when he played there. Same scenario with Nash/Amare.
