Sixers "poach" (or relieve us of) Wizards' VP of Scouting

Big deal/little deal/no deal? I say no deal. Either this guy is an amazing scout but a mediocre salesman, or he's a mediocre scout. It's not like either Oubre or White Flight (the two picks of his tenure) have set the world on fire: they could work themselves into good players, but they each have a long way to go to outperform their draft position. And, if the scouting department is responsible for evaluating undervalued FAs in the marketplace, then Eversley's track record is still mediocre. Lintsanity might as well be a Make-a-Wish recipient. Both of Toure' Murry's names rhymed with Curry; the similarities end there. I guess Eversley might claim some credit for Ish Smith, but that's about it.
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

Considering the duo who are hiring him away, it seems likely that he's an old school basketball man who doesn't hold much truck with those fancy analytics.

He may or may not be a good scout. It's impossible to tell with the Wizards because I really wouldn't put it past EG to ignore any opinion he doesn't like.

More likely Ernie would surround himself w/ people he knew would agree with him. Hence, happy to see Eversley go. And... him being *willing* to go might indicate that Ernie's position is not as solid as we are afraid it is? That is a nice thought.

Jerry Colangelo apparently wanted to bring in "basketball" people -- believing there were too many analytics guys in the Sixers front office. Might mean Ben Falk will be a free agent soon. I'd love to see Ben end up in Boston or San Antonio or Golden State for a few years before he comes home to the Wizards to build a perennial contender.
