heat suffering from "mental fatigue" according to wade.sorry if this has been posted b4

Oh please get that ish out of here, if anything last year was mentally tough with guys constantly injured in and out of rotations. We're talking about a team with very little expectations since the beginning of year, pegged at 43 wins by most analyst.

I don't think they're mentally fatigued.....they just need to stop being lazy and play defense. The moment we upped our pace was the moment we felt like just outscoring folks. We defend....we're a difficult team to deal with.

That's why I have faith against Atlanta or Boston. The Heat are really a defensive team. When they play defence they win.

POINT GUARDS WITH THE HIGHEST DRIBBLE FACTORS

The league average Dribble Factor, the impact of dribbling on FG% in percentage points, among point guards is 1.43.

Among starting point guards, Kyrie Irving leads the NBA in Dribble Factor at 9.4.

The lowest Dribble Factor belongs to Jeff Teague at -6.0.

Goran Dragic, 5.9 Dribble Factor

Goran Dragic was a prolific scorer for the Phoenix Suns just a few years back, but Dragic’s current 15.0 points per 36 minutes is his lowest since the 2008-2009 season. Dragic ranks 35th among point guards in Points per Chance at 0.17 and 26th in Touches per Chance at 0.67. Throughout Dragic’s career, he’s been a tremendously efficient high-volume scorer, but his 1.09 Points per Shot this season is just below the positional average.

For the Heat, Dwyane Wade carries much of the ball-handling duties, forcing Dragic to become more of a spot-up threat, something he’s never excelled at. Dragic is shooting 36.4 percent on jumpers that come without taking a dribble, compared to 46.6 percent on 168 jumpers taken after three or more dribbles.

Dragic is an incredible finisher at the rim and has made 62.0 percent of his layups this year. But with Wade being a non-shooter from the three-point arc, and spacing being tight with players such as Hassan Whiteside, Amar’e Stoudemire, and Justise Winslow not being able to shoot from range either, Dragic doesn’t get to the rim like he used to.

The Heat rank 26th in three-pointers attempted per game at 18.0, and the team also shoots the three-pointer at the fourth lowest efficiency, making just 33.1 percent. Dragic is at his best in a high-tempo offense, and the Heat rank 25th in pace on the season. Typically, when a player’s usage decreases, his efficiency will go up, but overall Dragic is currently so miscast as a secondary ball-handler that the opposite has become true.

Don't think I've ever heard of Dribble factor before this but it's interesting I guess. Him declining a little could be a factor not mentioned, I'd have to check his catch-and-shoot and pull-up numbers from Phoenix

Gonna be tough to win out the last two games tbh. If we do, I think we get the third seed.

Cavs are gonna play ATL all out because they need to lock up the 1st seed. I can see Charlotte beating Boston tomorrow.

but knowing us on the road and on the second night of the back to back.....probably the 4th or 5th seed.

We're not favored for either game. Detroit plays well at home (26-14, 10-4 since the allstar break) and Boston is damn near unbeatable lately (27-12 overall, 18-2 in the last 20 home games).

We like challenges though, don't we? It makes everything more meaningful.

A few other things:

Detroit will have 3 days of rest when we play them Tuesday night. We get our normal one day off.

Boston will have the day off on Tuesday. Their games are Monday (vs Charlotte) and Wednesday against us. Both opponents, therefore, will be rested when we play them.

That back to back in Boston will be a nasty game. I don't like depending on other teams, but it would be really helpful if Charlotte and Cleveland win on Monday.

Here are the matchups from 538.com:

4/11
Atl (31%) @ Cle (69%), Cleveland 5 points favorites.
Cha (28%) @ Bos (72%), Boston 5.5 points favorites.

4/12
Mia (45%) @ Det (55%), Detroit 1 point favorites

4/13
Atl (51%) @ Wsh (49%), Atlanta 0.5 point favorites.
Mia (29%) @ Bos (71%). Boston 5.5 point favorites
Orl (22%) @ Cha (78%). Charlotte 8 point favorites.

Lakers loss in overtime was worse. We've had some pretty terrible losses.

On the other hand, we would most likely have to play the second round (& subsequent rounds) on the road anyhow, so only one series (the first round) is in question. Home court advantage *is* important, but we aren't a team with 50 plus wins yet.

As long as we have Winslow in.

Dragic and Thomas still have some unresolved issues. It's time to put things where they belong. Can't wait to see what will happen.
