Re: "Why Can't I Hold All of These Draft Picks?" - 2016 Draft Thread P.2
So, this has been said before in an interview a couple weeks ago but DA thinks we need scoring. I have no doubt Ingram will be the consensus number one on the Celtics board, but would anyone dare to think the front office might prioritize Murray and Heild over even Simmons and/or Bender?
On Okafor, I'm indifferent on adding him. I'd be okay with trading off the rights to Kris Dunn for him if we're unfortunate enough to be sitting at the 5 spot, though. I don't think that pick gets you Butler. Okafor, most probably though.

Man i still remember that USA-Croatia game, it was really interesting, went in overtime and once Arapovic fouled out it was kinda over.Shortened rotation, some guys got injured during the tournament, Bender couldn't play, real shame.
Still remember that block by Slavica on Tatum where he basically stole his soul

Lol,
You are hating on a 20 year old... Dude put up beast numbers in his rookie year. Can match up with ANY big in the league.... At age 20. Who plays defense in Philly? They are a mediocre team that nobody wants to play for, therefore the effort of some players won't be there every night.
Agree. It's crazy smh. Going to be interesting reading through these posts again in a couple years.

so what are you gonna offer then? why would the 76ers sell low on him? C's fans are really unrealistic with their trade proposals/thoughts
More like you over rate the philly bigs. We know Okafor is your binkie

Worth noting that Philly was an above league average defensive team last year, this year they are around 25ish. There D dropped substantially this year.

I'd trade pick 5 and beyond for Okafor unless Ainge is dead set on another guard in Dunn.

Right because 18-year old 7-footers with skills, shooting ability, and physicality grow on trees.
You're basing this on heavily edited YouTube highlight tapes. There is enormous risk surrounding Bender.

Yea, totally agree with cha... It's opinions, I'd take Dunn over Bender, that's just me. Maybe I'm wrong. I think Dunn has superstar potential, nothing about Bender has impressed me.
Good assessment:

I mean, I don't love the idea of acquiring him and ego knows, maybe Colangelo will love him (doubtful) or Embiid has another setback but I literally don't even know how this team can support another roster spot for a guard. That's exactly what we're going to end up with if we're sitting at 4-6. Murray, Heild or Dunn. If you really want to draft Murray because you think he has great potential, ok. I can get on board with that but we're be depreciating the value of Smart, Bradley, Rozier and Hunter.
He's not perfect and he seems to be a malignant character in Philadelphia and like he never wanted to be there, but he's a 20 year old who can throw the ball in the hoop at a high clip at a position of need.
If picks 4-6 get you a better player, then do it but I seriously doubt it.

I would imagine that Colangelo far prefers Noel to Okafor.
His Suns (and to a lesser extent, Toronto) teams were predicated with athletic big men and spacing to clear the paint for guards who attacked and dished. Noel seems to fit that mold real well.
I would be interested in trading Okafor/Saric for #3 (Dunn)/Olynyk/DAL16, but that would pretty much be the extent of my interest. Okafor has a ton of tools, but needs a lot of coaching to reach his potential. I'd want to definitively win the trade to take him on.

Because the Sixers are going to move either Okafor or Noel or actually both this off season if not at the draft. Hinkie is gone there is no need to save face on this situation. They will take the best offer but they are going to move one or both of them. Noel has some baggage now as well as limited offensive upside and he is due to get paid. Okafor's issues are well documented, but I also think he specifically wants out of PHI that there is not future in this.
So in one sense your right what Boston is willing to offer may not be enough but that doesn't change what you offer. I am not sure anyone is willing to offer a lottery pick for either of these guys. Keep in mind the burn job with MCW, the stats are empty. I might be willing to talk about the DAL pick and perhaps multiple picks but no on the BKL pick I can live without these guys may even prefer it.

I don't post on here much, but I read a lot of the posts. This is a draft thread and there are about three pages of debate about how good Okafor will be. Kind of annoying.

There is enormous risk surrounding every player when you have a top-5 pick. Dunn is 12 days younger than Marcus Smart and there are people ready to write off Marcus.
Again, Bender is a skilled and athletic 7-footer 18 year old (*repeat, 18) who has been playing and handling his own against grown men. Dunn is 22 and has been putting up stats against college kids. Huge difference.

With so much potential trade implication happening with the draft picks, this thread, the BRK/DAL pick thread, and the trade thread have all drifted towards an indistinguishable smorgasbord.
Edit - A couple more days and that pick thread gets retired, and we can get more defined on the draft/trade threads I imagine.

Simmons is not playing for Australia in Olympics. The news is 3 days old and might have been posted here, but it just hit me who's their NT coach: Brett Brown. Also, Australian players are allegedly not too keen on Simmons.

The hate and Sully comparisons are way more mind blowing. If Danny had pulled a trade to draft him like rumored, or even at mid season like rumored, everyone would love him.

I would be very happy with BRK pick if 3-5 for Okafor...also if we add another 1st rounder.

"Why Can't I Hold All of These Draft Picks?" has been condensed in the thread title to a very handy acronym.
Thought there might be some lingering confusion between this and the pick watch thread.
PS - why are acronyms so popular now?
