LMAO Carlos Santana.

Can you believe that some Friedman haters are using players like Kershaw to say Ned did a good job???
Like he had anything to do with scouting him and making the tough decision to pick him over Lincecum.

Logan White was the man back then. I miss him.

Kim Ng negotiated like a Mofo. I miss her.

wish he had the analytics of Paul DePodesta through those years. I miss him.

but hell, we have Andrew/Farhan/Josh/Alex and I am not missing them all that much.

Blanton's Throw to 1B

Post#368 » by Ranma » Sun Apr 10, 2016 11:05 pm

No replay? They might have got him on the pick-off.

Edit: Didn't matter as Blanton got himself out of the inning. On to the 9th inning for our last chance to take the lead in the NL West this young season.

Not a Bad Position to Be In

Post#377 » by Ranma » Sun Apr 10, 2016 11:23 pm

We conceivably could have won all 4 games in this series to go undefeated on the season, but we just missed on getting swept by the Giants. For now, we're 1 game behind them for the division lead with a day off before our home opener. Things could be worse even if I'm disappointed in our missed opportunities.

Hey man, I wish Logan White would have stayed on with this current front office. His drafts were money once Guggenheim brought the money. That would have been a juggernaut front office.

I still think with this front office we're going to be good for years to come.

But for 2016, I really wish Friedman would pay Crawford, Howell, and Guerrero to take a hike.
Their benefit to our ball club does not outweigh the fact that they're taking up PAs and time in the field from younger guys. More importantly, we have a quality leader in the club house, good coaches, young players, and veterans that aren't an actual waste of space. I think it would go a long way to making our clubhouse a winning clubhouse and not just one that is so talented that it's always going to put up 90+ wins.

I mean we really have Howell coming in in spots to suck when a younger, much more live arm can come in and help us (theoretically, I know we're hurt)….he makes $6 million this year….is this real life? Kenley is making $10 million.

Not flinching at this series or the next one.

They have a little more continuity there with Bochy, Posey and their infield so they usually beat up on us early and we usually beat the Giants up pretty good after the all star break.

I said this last year and got laughed at on the general discussion baseball forum.
Then we went 5-2 against them in September, sweeping them in LA and taking 22 out of 4 in SF to clinch the division.

Dodgers' Past Leadership

Post#380 » by Ranma » Mon Apr 11, 2016 1:15 am

While I'm certainly grateful to Logan White for his contributions to our drafts and would have preferred that he stayed on staff within the current administration, I've been convinced by arguments that he was not exactly a draft genius but more above average compared to his contemporaries with regards to his record of hits and misses even when he was not hampered by McCourt's flimsy finances.

I'm definitely thankful that Ned Colletti's influence has been minimized to irrelevance, but I definitely would have preferred that we brought back Kim Ng since, as Neddy said, she was a topnotch negotiator who was a big fan of the game. I wasn't a fan of Paul DePodesta's, but I wouldn't be opposed to him being a part of our braintrust as a subordinate and not a leader. The guy I think who was under-appreciated and deserves a position with the Dodgers is Dan Evans. He brought in Ng and secured Vladimir Guerrero's agreement to join the Dodgers before McCourt put the kibosh on it. Evans also ably rebuilt the organization from the shambles Kevin Malone's bumbling left it.
