New York’s defense has surrendered just over 100 points per 100 possessions with Grant and Galloway on the court, according to NBA.com; a metric that’d rank third-best in the league. By contrast, the Knicks allowed more than 108 points per 100 plays when Calderon and Afflalo played together, a number that’d rank the club’s defense second-worst in the entire NBA. (Despite these numbers, Afflalo and Calderon inexplicably shared the court almost 49% of the time this season, whereas Grant and Galloway only played together about 29% of the time.)

Grant should have been playing for MONTHS. Maybe not starting when we were 22-22. But this kid should have seen much more PT.

HORRIBLE season of coaching. Squandered a playoff run in full tank mode fashion with no pick. Just a surreal season.

Batum Batum Batum Batum Batum. That's all I want this summer. Afflalo opts out and we sign Batum. D Will stays. Thibs or Walton and call it a day. Phil redeemed 100%.

This shouldn't go overlooked. Some posters like to joke about the "high character" thing, but it does make a huge difference, even in a losing season.

These are good guys. They have a bond. And say what you want about Fisher, but I think he really helped create that before he left. Either way, somehow this team feels like they are family, and I think that's one of the first steps to becoming a great team.

The talent has to catch up, but the culture really has changed and we shouldn't take it for granted. NY is a place players can come now and enjoy a positive environment and be around other guys who want to work hard and do the right things.

I'm so glad we Knicks fans don't have to talk about JR snorting coke at the club and trying to pipe 16 year old girls on Twitter during a losing season. I'm glad we don't have to watch as tension continues to build between our best players. The center we have now isn't going to quit on this team like Tyson, and if there's a scuffle during a game, nobody is pulling a Cole Aldrich and walking away from it. This is a team, and maybe when they win some more games next year, these things will be more appreciated.

Ain't no JR Smiths or Lance Stephensons in Golden State...

If you don't use it, you lose it.

Anyways, I'm really happy with the way Grant has played with the keys. Agree with you saying he's not necessarily a starter yet, but he's looked very solid since he started getting more consistent minutes.

Good to hear. Touch choice this summer, but given that Conley will get crazy money (despite already having Achilles problems), Knicks may be better off sticking with what they have at the point - especially if Wroten can round back into form. You can always teach players how to shoot - but you can't teach quickness.

Didn't really watch the game want to see it on replay but, it's nice to see Grant turn it around and maybe that can help us focus on upgrading the 2 position this offseason and have Grant start maybe next year? Like if you can pluck a Batum or a Derozan or a Bazemore with the development of KP and Grant and we can be really dangerous next year.

Also this is what Melo needs to be selling Durant on... He can get the best of both worlds with us. Not only can he try and contend for a title with us now because of him, Melo, Kp, and whatever we trade Lopez for in that scenario but, he can then have Grant, KP, DWill, Wily and our first next year with him for the next 5 years as well. I know it's a longshot but, the Knicks could come up with at least an interesting mix of young and old that many other teams vying for him can't.

I think the only thing we got to sell Durant on is Melo and KP, as well as playing in the East where only the Cavaliers are legit.

Besides that, none of the rest of our "assets" are anything to cry home about when you compare them to the other 29 teams in the league.

I think Durant will stay with OKC for 5 more years at whatever his max salary would be. After a 5 year deal, Durant would be entering free agency in the summer of 2022 at only 33 years of age.

This. KF92 is looking at it too much from a Knicks fans prespective.. realistically the only prospect on our team most other fans or even NBA players give any real credibility to is KP

You're probably right  I just want the guy to come bad. Gotta rationalize it however I can.

Capn'O wrote:On the "full rebuild," it's really Melo's choice. If Phil Jackson were to tell him "you're not in our plans. We're going young and will look for deals to get you to a good situation" and Melo says "nah"... what then?

FWIW, I don't think the above is the case. I think they've chosen to go after the big fish FA but otherwise go young and keep Melo in tow to help shoulder the load while they develop.

That NTC is tge reason why I dont understand why many here believe that Phil is going to tank next year or rebuild, all Melo has to say is "NO" and there goes your rebuild lol. So keeping Rambis while Melo still being a Knick and not even interviewing other coaches would be a sin and I for one just like he pushed for the kids to get more burn that Melo pushes for a coaching search

Grant could have done that maybe right from the start of the season, but first Fisher messed up with his confidence and later it was Rambis. Sitting him for games, blaming him for mistakes, cutting down his minutes or pulling him out of the game quickly. The tools were always there, but he started to overthink at every possession and every shot he took.

Looks like Dad Melo is hunkering down for the long haul. I like how he's working with the kids. Very important for his life after playing days, as well.

Melo setting himself up to get a Knicks/MSG job for life like Allan Houston did.

Grant was one of the biggest keys for the season. Our only hope for a serviceable modern PG. Watching him getting benched and yanked around had to be the most frustrating part of this season. Even when he was not shooting well, he did some other things in which he should have been playing. Glad to see him getting some consistent time and producing.

Amazing when a kid gets some playing time. Sure, Toronto had it locked up but for once, Grant FELT like a contributor.

Knicks obviously move the ball faster without melo also why didn't rolo play in the 4th?

Getting rested and giving time to the kids.

Why even play than lol

So people don't complain that he keeps "missing" games so he must be "done"? There's really no winning with some people. He plays too much people complain "why are they playing him so much, why not play the kids". He gets the coach to play the kids and it's "why don't they have him in there in the 4th". He takes the shots and it's "why does he take so many shots". He passes and tries to get his teammates involved and it's, "why isn't he taking shots?".

I don't think team hoodwinked specifically wants him gone...what they do want is Jackson and Rambis gone.
