Recruiting wrap: Hill’s recruitment is starting to take shape and Maryland has emerged as the team to beat for sure. The four-star has been to College Park a bunch of times including a recent trip where he and his father watched a scrimmage and sat in on quarterback meetings. Hill has visited a bunch of other Big Ten teams but the Terrapins are making him a major priority in this recruiting class and look to be the frontrunner.
Prediction: Maryland

Terps Looking Strong for Four-Star QB Set to Announce Saturday
Four-star St. John's (D.C.) pro-style quarterback Kasim Hill will announce his college decision this Saturday at 2 p.m.
The 6-foot-3, 215 pound junior's most recent visit was to Michigan State last weekend, but he's been to Maryland several times within the last few weeks.
“I definitely think I can play well in [Maryland's] style,” Hill told IMS after his most recent visit to College Park. “They like running quarterbacks and I thought that could be a good fit for me. I thought they looked as good as I expected, but coach [Walt] Bell has been showing me plays on the white board just going through progressions, reads and play calling just to get me acclimated and experienced with the playbook.”
His recruitment gained clarity once he revealed that Michigan and Penn State have begun backing off. Hill will decide between Maryland, Michigan State and Northwestern among others.
He's rated as the second best prospect in the state of Maryland and the 13th-best pro-style quarterback in the 2017 class. Quarterback remains a major position of need for the Terps.
President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Four-Star Defensive Tackle Committing Friday
Four-star IMG (Fl.) defensive tackle Cam Spence confirmed with IMS that he'll be announcing his commitment on Friday at 8 AM. The DMV native recently released a top fifteen of Maryland, Penn State, Ohio State, Florida, Pitt, Texas A&M, USC, Kentucky, UNC, Clemson, Miami, Alabama, Michigan, Tennessee and Georgia, but just days later appears ready to make a decision.
As it stands, the Crystal Ball indicates that Penn State is the favorite, but Maryland has certainly worked its way as a legitimate contender. Spence made four trips to College Park during his spring break in addition to a visit to Texas A&M. As we've reported before, Maryland is in a good spot.
Earlier tonight, four-star quarterback Kasim Hill announced he'd be committing on Saturday.
Spence is rated No. 184 overall in the 2017 class.
President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Local Three-Star Sets Commitment Date
Another Terp target set his commitment date for this Saturday at 2 PM. Good Counsel outside linebacker Ayinde Eley will make his decision this Saturday at 2 PM .
From Maryland's perspective, Eley has been in close contact with linebacker coach Matt Barnes with defensive line coach Mike London also developing a close relationship. Eley has been to Maryland a couple times within the last few weeks, but is coming off a visit to Florida and Florida State.
As it stands, the crystal ball is a 50-50 split between Kentucky and Ohio State.

So Turge is losing the entire starting front line - Carter, Stone, and Layman. Do they have any front court recruits coming in?

They have Micah Thomas (SF) coming in and they'll probably add some grad transfers.

So Stone, Trimble, and Carter are declaring. At-least Trimble is not hiring an agent and could possibly go back. Carter has no business declaring, he may go in the 2nd round or go undrafted. Stone looks like he needs 4-5 years more, but someone will take him in the 1st.

Fwiw, Carter is aware he probably won't get drafted. After 4 years he's just ready to start getting paid....even if it's in Europe.

Trimble might as well return. He should also strongly plan on possibly not having a pro career, and perhaps becoming a coach.
He's not a PG. Trimble's best bet is to gain ten pounds to be big like he was as a freshman. He needs to be a scorer first. His game simply does not translate well to the NBA.

Carter is Maryland's best prospect by a mile, Stone is making the bad call here, he should stay the whole full 4 years at Maryland if you ask me.
I like Sulaimon too.

I like Sulaimon as-well, what is he, a Sophmore? Stone, he has to go the right team or he will end-up like Whiteside. Stone needs the full 4 and then some.

Sulaimon is a senior and has no shot at the NBA. Doesn't shoot it well enough at 6-4 for an undersized two guard and doesn't handle it well enough to play the 1. He's an poor man's Garrett Temple. Pretty much the same with Carter, who is around 6-8 at best and a tweener. He'll play overseas but I understand his predicament.
As for Stone, nobody with pro potential stays four years anymore. Not when you're a big man who will go in the first round but sure, he should have stayed at least one year. Alex Len stayed two years and he's finally coming into his own.

I don't know if someone else said this or if I'm merely restating something that I posted, but I believe Stone is similar to Maurice Speights. He's a versatile scorer but not much else.
