Are We Ther Yet wrote:New York’s defense has surrendered just over 100 points per 100 possessions with Grant and Galloway on the court, according to NBA.com; a metric that’d rank third-best in the league. By contrast, the Knicks allowed more than 108 points per 100 plays when Calderon and Afflalo played together, a number that’d rank the club’s defense second-worst in the entire NBA. (Despite these numbers, Afflalo and Calderon inexplicably shared the court almost 49% of the time this season, whereas Grant and Galloway only played together about 29% of the time.)
This is what pissed off knick fans all year. It's like we sacrificed a season just to play Vets instead. Even when we were 22-22 we were calling for Grant.
Grant should have been playing for MONTHS. Maybe not starting when we were 22-22. But this kid should have seen much more PT.

HORRIBLE season of coaching. Squandered a playoff run in full tank mode fashion with no pick. Just a surreal season.

Batum Batum Batum Batum Batum. That's all I want this summer. Afflalo opts out and we sign Batum. D Will stays. Thibs or Walton and call it a day. Phil redeemed 100%.

Grant looked real good in this game. Looks like the light switch went on. I'd love to pry DeRozan away from Toronto but I hear they like it up there. If Melo has any sway, I hope he uses it on Demar.

As crazy as it sounds, Calderon may be one of, if not the most important player to try and sway DeRozan over to the Knicks. DeRozan has stated how much he loved having Jose as a teammate numerous times... That being said I don't see it happening. I would love for it to happen, but I am not going to get my hopes up

Then he proceeded to sh*t all over the bed in actual games. Training camp doesn't mean anything once the season starts.

You're talking as if Grant never played. He averaged 21 MPG for the first 20 games of the season.

So it seems he produced in these games.

It's really hard to judge Grant in the early going of the season because he had a quick hook that could easily impact his level of play. When he was able to get into a rhythm and play longer minutes, most of the time he seemed to pick up confidence and play better. But when he got the quick hooks, they were always because he made mistakes or bad decisions, so it's not like he was showing any reason to leave him out there. I think he shoulda been allowed to play through the errors and his numbers would have improved, but it's a pure hypothetical.

Everyone likes Jose. I question how many people like covering for him on D.

I have DD on top of my FA wish list, other than KD. Young, talented, fills a need. It will be tough getting him though when LAL, home, will have money and TOR can give him the most money and is a winning team. Hopefully they lose in the first round.

Problem is that he will take up all the cap, so it will be this team with him replacing AA and only minor other moves. That should still be a playoff team, but enough to entice him over TOR and LAL? We would also need to find 3 and D guy.

Grant looking good is great news, but late season play can be deceiving... See Mardy Collins. Him playing outside the triangle may also be building trade value to another team, not that I want to move him. For example, maybe his potential and Jose's expiring can net us something. Although, more likely the young guys vie for the minutes and Jose stays the mentor vet until he comes off the cap, keeping us somewhat relevant in 2017 FA.

We cut him after he helps us sign DeRozan.

grant looks like... he needed much more court time to build his confidence. i'm not jumping out of the window, but he looks like the starting PG of our immediate future. still a little reckless, but the kid's got heart. dynamic slasher wing a la derozan/batum should be top target this summer.
    RIP magnumt

Grant needs to watch some Alvin Williams pre-injury game footage. Find a way to get into pockets for the mid range pop, get to the rim and finish, or set people up off screens for set shots. Simple but effective. If he can do that, cut down on the turnovers, and continue to play good defense, he can for sure be a starting point guard on a playoff team.

Jerian's surge was nice. I like him. But if we get the coaching wrong, then nothing else matters. We'll be in big trouble with Rambis as head coach. That's a terminal disease.
