Re: The Next Coach Thread
Ted will be looking for someone whose presence sells seats -- WU Jr.'s connection w/ the franchise would be in his favor. Or else a veteran w/ something of a name.
Who's the last Wizards/Bulls coach to win two playoff series?

Eddie Jordan won one and took the cavs to 7, which was more impressive than either of the two won under randy.

Um when did the Wizards ever take the Cavs to 7?

Wasn't it 7? Sorry bad memory. Still was the most fun playoff series in the time I've been a wizard fan.

I vote Thibs. I've listened to several interviews with him since he was fired, and he really comes across as a student of the game. Very intelligent, very articulate, and quite knowledgeable about analytics too.

Thibs knows Ernie is a snake, he wouldn't work under him!
But maybe Thibs could get Ernie fired like Van Gundy did in NYC
Also, Thibs runs his players into the ground. I'm very concerned about that.

Re: The Next Coach Thread
I do wonder if Thibs' tendency to overplay people in Chicago was indicative of a deeper philosophy or a reflection of the roster. Maybe some of both.
I just look at what Chicago has done since and... he seemed to get a lot out of that team, certainly more than his replacement has. But that is a fair concern. If I was hiring a new GM that would be a long and nuanced part of the interview with Thibs.

John Calipari/Jay Wright.
President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

I would like to see Thibs here. I like his defense first philosophy. Give him a bunch of players who have grit, and 2 scorers, and he'll do something with it.

Re: The Next Coach Thread
Personally I'd be happy with: Thibs, Joerger (unlikely), JVG, and almost any Spurs Asst lol, or probably Blatt
Content with: Ollie, Calipari, Jay Wright.
Unsure about: Cassell
Dissatisfied with: Brooks, Karl, Jackson (pls God no), or some retread coach

Wizards make surprise hire for head coaching position
By Gene Wang April 13 at 11:25 PM
The Randy Wittman era came to an official close late Wednesday night as he was dismissed, ironically, following a rousing 109-98 victory over the playoff-bound Atlanta Hawks. Multiple sources report that since about the halfway point of the season, Wittman had lost the locker room because of his refusal to entertain improvement suggestions from players.
Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld has already made an offer to the next Wizards Head Coach. And in a move that can best be described as "everything old is new again", his surprise pick was on nobody's radar -- former Wizards Head Coach Doug Collins.

Re: The Next Coach Thread
I was never that impressed with Brooks. But Hornacek was a coaching darling for a hot minute, before the Suns' GM traded away all of his talent. I dunno if he can co-exist with our "franchise cornerstone" at PF, though.

Given that we're unlikely to have a draft pick, I suppose the Wizards aren't in any specific rush. But, if they're targeting candidates with other suitors, then they'll need to move aggressively.

Scott Brooks, Monty Williams? How about Tony Durant, former Towson University great (lol). and older, less talented brother. I mean none of those guys are bringing KD to DC. Godforbid you look at the real problem which is Ernie. Troy Weaver would at least give you a 2% chance instead of none.

Interesting that they didn't pull the trigger on a mid-season pickup. But I doubt Brooks would've been willing to take on a new team w/out a full offseason and training camp to teach them his system (to the extent he has one).
There had been some movement within the Wizards to pursue Brooks during the regular season, but that Wizards are expected to be aggressive in the marketplace with Brooks, league sources said.
