Red Beard Pegged

Post#423 » by Ranma » Thu Apr 14, 2016 4:43 am

Justin Turner gets hit by a pitch for the 2nd time this game, which is the 3rd time a Dodger has been plunked tonight. Pederson was the other Dodger drilled tonight.

Unreal.

Have to go to Janen to get a 5 out save because this joke of a bullpen arm can't throw the ball over the damn plate.

Framed for Presentation

Post#428 » by Ranma » Thu Apr 14, 2016 5:23 am

Vin points out Grandal's framing gave Jansen that 3rd strike for the final out of the game for the save.

What a frame job from Grandal at the end to get that call.

Thought it was obvious but the ump fell for it.

Looks like we're done tonight.

Can't hit Robbie Ray...missing Turner's RH bat.
Howell coming out the pen to start the 7th.

We're toast.

Lots of Activities Going On in L.A.

Post#436 » by Ranma » Fri Apr 15, 2016 4:04 am

I was impressed with Wood last night. I was also pleasantly surprised to see Roberts let him come out for the 8th inning, but was glad that he pulled him immediately after he let the leadoff batter get on base. Stripling seems to be pitching a fine game, but yeah, our offense is asleep again. Although, I think we've had a couple of hard hits that found gloves.

I've been pre-occupied today with the Rams trading for the 1st overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft on top of the Kings' first game in the Stanley Cup Playoffs tonight.

Score: 3 - 2 (Dodgers Up)

Post#437 » by Ranma » Fri Apr 15, 2016 4:10 am

Red Beard gets our 1st hit with RISP in this series. That makes us 1-19 and currently with runners at 1B and 2B with 1 out.

Update: **** hits a double to score 2 runs that now has us up by a run with still only 1 out.

Younger Batters

Post#438 » by Ranma » Fri Apr 15, 2016 4:16 am

I'm a little concerned about Seager going 0-3 so far tonight. He had bad body language when he struck out in his last at-bat. Barnes doesn't have a hit tonight but I'm encouraged that he walked twice and scored a run.

Puig Rakes, A-Gon Sends Him Home

Post#439 » by Ranma » Fri Apr 15, 2016 4:23 am

Yasiel gets his 2nd hit of the evening to push his BA to .405 with an accompanying RBI. He then scores a run off Adrian's RBI single. The lumber for the Dodgers has awoken from its slumber. We're now up 5 - 2.

two areas of concern/ discussion here:
1) We've dropped him in the order against lefties. I wasn't aware that he had an issue with lefties until we began doing that. Probably our own scouting on him.

http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/splits/_/id/32691/year/2015/corey-seager

and there was nothing in those limited splits to suggest he had a problem.

2) Given his run at the end of the year and his hit streak to start the year, it's hard to view it this way but...this little stretch here might be the beginning of his first taste of failure in the big leagues. He'll get through.

salute on Barnes.
Good eye but I want this kid to start putting the ball in play. Had a good rip in his 2nd AB but it went foul.
