With all the stressing about getting the 3rd chance in the lottery you know the 4th position will win it right. lol

Sean Grande ‏@SeanGrandePBP 4h4 hours ago Cambridge, MA

Meanwhile, Nets blow a 17-point lead, clinching 3rd worst record.

C's Draft Odds

1 - 15.6%
2 - 15.7%
3 - 15.6%
4 - 22.6%
5 - 26.5%
6 - 4%

So essentially equal chances of #1-3 as #4-5. Or another way, ~70% chance of a top 4 pick.

Does anyone knows when will it be? Coin flips i mean...

So we don't get HCA but we still need to coin flip for draft position? That's total BS. :x

You've got that right. Ignore the experts like draft express downplaying his talent because he doesn't have a good post up game. Defensively he's like a poor man's KG at worst, with the makings of a solid jump shot, and the motor and athleticism to get tons of buckets in transition.

Here's some fairly recent footage of him, you can see he's starting to fill out into a beast:

I'd be beyond thrilled if the Celtics got as high as the second pick. However I expect the Celtics to get 4th or 5th pick land Bender, Murry or Dunn.

Last week Maker measured out at 7'1 with a Shaq-like 9'5.5" standing reach, and 225 lbs.

Gobert's standing reach is 9'7", just 1.5" higher than Maker's. And Maker has a lot more offensive potential than Gobert.

Bender is soft, Dunn is like a Rozier/Smart hybrid, but not necessarily better than either. Murray is good, and I like him a lot, but we're stacked with guards who are approximately as good, or just a little worse than Murray.

Poeltl and Thon Maker are valid top 5 picks. No less talented than the guys Draft Express has above them. Just different position than those guards.

Bender is soft? I've never really watched the kid play, but that's the opposite of everything I've ever heard of him. Do you have insight into how he is soft? (serious question, I literally know nothing about this kid beyond his interviews, which are impressive honestly)

Also, with all these players that could be drafted, maintain the context of what they'd be placed in. Someone like Thon Maker doesn't appear to be close to his potential, and on the right team with the right coaching staff, someone with his physical gifts could grow into a hell of a player. I think when I read up on his motor and work ethic, Stevens might like this person if they're out of the top 2. I think there are also some others as well.

Simmons, Maker, Ingram. Give us any one of those 3 and I'll finally get off Danny's ass. Just ONE fn future or current STUD is all I ask for this offseason. 8-)

Yeah a few European fans who watch him regularly all say that he's soft, and they compare him to Bargs. Now, Bargs with better intangibles is still a good player, but certainly not a lock for #3. And we already have a soft 7 footer who shoots threes. I love Olynyk, but most people here can't stand him, and honestly how many do we need? Especially when Bender is years away from being a better version of Bargnani.

You really need to take those Maker highlights with a grain of salt. The kid should have been in U.S. college this season, instead he played a 5'th year in Canadian high school. Picture what a Ben Simmons highlight tape would look like if he went back to his high school for a game. Lots of athleticism, but the level of competition he's playing against is miles below what you're seeing the other draft eligible guys play against.

I remember 3 years ago when Giannis and Dennis Schroeder were relatively late additions to the draft discussion. Giannis didn't even get invited to the Nike Hoops Summit or the NBA Combine. And all the mock drafts refused to move these two late additions up into the top echelon of the mock drafts. Same with the teams drafting.

It's like Giannis was off limits for Washington to consider at #3, even though they needed a SF and ended up taking an inferior one at 3.

People just have a hard time adjusting their mock drafts for late additions, and that includes front offices.

Like two years ago when Jokic was a late addition to the draft, and he fell to the second round for no good reason.

Wrong. Maker's team played just about the hardest high school schedule in the country. And he totally held his own in the Nike Hoops Summit last year, even though he was a year younger than a lot of the guys. And he started over Skal in that game.

Again, don't think of Thon Maker as a 7 '1 small forward. Think of him as a defensive role playing PF/C with a taller standing reach than Shaq. People like Draft Express are knocking him for not being a legit small forward or something, and taking his defensive tools and ability for granted.

Nerlens Noel was drafted #6 when he weighed 205 lbs. Maker is already 20 lbs stronger, is 2 inches taller, is nearly as athletic, and is far more coordinated than Noel. Just think of Maker as an elite role player. Draft Express just wants to play the Smarter Than Thou role, and they want to hype up their binkie Bender, who is a soft version of Thon Maker.

Give me the guy who loves contact, can guard the pick and role, and can swat shots.

How can you call Bender soft and simultaneously praise Poeltl and Maker as top 5 picks?

Because they don't shy away from contact. They embrace it. You either have it or you don't. Ask Yi Jianlian.

This was more of a critique on Poeltl than Maker-- Poeltl is softer than baby $h!t. I watched him play multiple games and I would 100% describe him as soft. He plays like Tyler Zeller.
