Pacers Clinch 7th Seed - Face Raptors in 1st Round

Post#1 » by Scoot McGroot » Wed Apr 13, 2016 3:31 pm

It's all lined up. Let the chips fall where they may.

I'm happy to see Myles Turner have to contribute in the playoffs so early. Hopefully it will continue to jump start his progression and development.

Many people on the GB seem to think the Raps bench is better than ours. I'm not sure I agree with that.

Our bench hasn't been 100% for most of the year. The addition of Lawson, the reemergence of Solo, Myles, and a healthy Miles and Stuckey... we might win the 2nd unit battle.

At the same time, it's the playoffs, so benches matter less than they do in the regular season.

Your guys' bench looks pretty good imo. Difference is with us is that we have plenty of plus defenders in our second unit and we never play without one or two starters on the floor. So while Cojo/Ross/Powell/Pat/Biz don't look good as a 5 man unit, they all compliment our other starters well. Patterson has actually been one of the best bench players in the entire league, Biz is a top 10 defender this year. Powell has been flourishing B as a starter. What you guys really should focus on is the fact that Scola and Val as front court is horrendous defensively and you should be able to exploit that. If Casey realizes this and starts Thomson or Carrol or Pat instead, I'd say it will lead to trouble for you guys.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

A lot of talk that George Hill could play more of the Lance Stephenson role in the playoffs. Start, but first starter pulled, and then joining the backups early for a long run. Seems Vogel really likes him next to Lawson, too.

This is likely to counter the Raptors with CoJo, Lowry, Ross, Patterson & Bismack which has been a devastating combination for the Raptors. Happy to see the Pacers back in the playoffs and PG healthy.

I keep seeing Lawson get Stuckey those corner 3s and his percentage from last year, regretably, seems to have regressed to his career norm. Hill can hit those. Also hoping we'll see Hill score more in general in this role.

This should be an interesting series. JV used to have good games against Roy Hibbert, but Mahinmi seems much more mobile/nimble and could give him trouble, so that's something to pay attention to. If PG manages to lock DeRozan down, then it suddenly becomes a question of whether Lowry is going to bring it. He was abysmal last year against the Wizards. Hopefully he does better against the Pacers...

Possibly. But remember, Lawson hasn't been in the lineup long and Vogel has still been trying to figure it all out.

Good luck tomorrow. I really hope the Raptors don't sleep on you guys. I think they might be in for a surprise. I watched a few Pacers games (outside of the 4 against the Raptors) and the Pacers can be major pests on the defensive end. If those guys show up against the Raptors then I think it will be a good/close series. Game 1 is key. If you guys can steal the first game, it could be a huge moral loss for the Raptors and a big moral boost for you guys.

Don't think we've ever won a series without winning game one. For sure that used to be true.

JV has had a great game so far and I expect that to continue throughout the series. We don't have a lot of big man depth so you'll dominate on the boards.

So. Paul George. If you could go ahead and stop RAMMING THE CROW DOWN MY THROAT and just leave it on the plate in front of me, that'd be cool...

Paul George has been just like his old self, if not better, on both ends of the floor. His work on DeMar is phenomenal and Myles Turner looks great for a rookie in his first playoff game. Anchoring the defense, so many blocks.

But Jonas has been even better...

Did we close a close game?

How?

What?

Awesome game. PG and Monta combine for 7 of 9 from 3. Solo goes perfect from the line 10/10. Myles defended the rim with 5 blocks.

This was a complete 2nd half by the Pacers with contributions from all around. So glad we got the 1st game...this has gotta be deflating to the Raptors.

What a second half performance by PG13! I said it in one of the other threads, he's the best player in this series, when he wants to be. He's the closer we've been needing all season, great to see the playoffs continue to bring the best out of the kid from California. Reminds me of a former Pacer from the Golden State.

Great play by Turner both altering and blocking shots and making some clutch bunnies towards the end of the game. Monta Ellis made some big shots throughout the game. Stuckey also made a clutch three late in the game.

Really not too many negatives other than allowing JV to pretty much rule the boards.
