I mean, we gotta swing for the fences. The fact this guy is so raw and has only played for a couple of years, I can't even imagine the upside. I know most vote Sabonis, and he is a safer pick who will always be of value, but I seriously doubt he is going to be a star player.
Chriss might not be either, but the sky seems to be the limit, and being able to block shots AND hit 3s as a PF is extremely rare and is valuable in today's league...that is why Tyson would be nice to still have if we take him...Len as well...those are two elite rebounders who compensate for his weaknesses, but also guys he can learn from on boxing out and getting those rebounds....and then add the athleticism. I have a feeling he is going to go really high....much higher than most mocks...like top 7 or 8...I think Ford might have him at 8, but I wouldn't be surprised if McD took him as high as 3 or 4. Is Bender really a better prospect than him?
I can say that Chriss seems more low IQ and has a high foul rate, and of course the rebounding is a problem, and Bender is probably a little bit of the opposite, but Chriss just shows that potential of an Ibaka/Amare hybrid, and that is hard to pass up imo. I just don't know why you take a guard in front of him no matter how high our pick is.
I think my biggest surprise by poll results is that so many vote Rabb, when we don't need a rebound/lane clogger, and he screams John Henson to me, or another swing guy over a stretch blocking super athletic PF.
Sabonis I can kind of understand, and I was all about him with the Cavs pick or maybe even the Washington pick if Chriss is gone.
