The shooting guard position is really bad in today's NBA.

Knicks go out and sign Noah and Fournier.

To keep Noah mins down we get KP some minutes at the 5 and we use Melo some at the 4.

Teague/ Grant / Wroten
Fournier / Thabo
Melo / Lance
KP / D-Will
Noah / KOQ

Primary issue is Teague becomes a free agent the following season and we are back in that game.

I'd rather just pay Teague as a FA, since I don't think he's staying in ATL.

I'd consider Rolo for Schroeder, not Teague.

Yeah - But I don't see ATlanta parting with Schroeder because he's cost controlled.

2 questions....

Do you think my proposed RoLo for Teague/Thabo deal is pretty fair?
What do you think of idea of getting PG via trade and then going after Noah/Fournier combo?

I think the Rolo trade is fair value wise.

Trading for Teague and then signing Fournier and Noah would be a solid play, though I'm not super excited about Noah as a starter. I would be happy with the haul overall.

I'm on the tank train. 2017 is an incredible draft class (top 3 guys would go #1 this year and the top 10 is loaded) and we can probably get a pick for Melo. Two really good picks next year + KP would change this franchise. This team plus a maxed out Batum or Conley is a 5-6 seed treadmill team at best. It's just delaying the rebuild and wasting years when KP is cheap.

it is not so easy to have your timing as a franchise line up with a super draft so i have to agree. it would not be responsible to avoid seeing what melo could net in a trade

in that case just one year of proper planning could result in a decade of top level talent at the teams core. anyone who thinks that is not more important than holding on to melo has different priorities

Patrick Beverly would be a decent guard in the triangle especially at the value of $5M-6M per season. Problem is, Houston will never give up that kind of contract.

Yup. And specific skills.

The main skill of the triangle is energy.

Horace Grant
Bill Cartwright
Trevor Ariza
John Paxson
Scottie Pippen
Ron Harper
Dennis Rodman
Derek Fisher
Metta World Peace
Good Lamar Odom
Kobe Bryant
Michael Jordan

Honestly, the hallmark of every one of those guys except Cartwright is that these were all supremely conditioned athletes who played hard for every second that they were on the floor.

That's why a player like Calderon/Afflalo becomes such an albatross in the Triangle. His lack of energy/tempo permeates through a lineup. We're not fleet of foot in our starting group as it is and then you got a glacier bringing the ball up and never moving off the ball? Afflalo hogging space on the post like he's freaking Dwyane Wade? That's why Lance Thomas has a place on this team. His constant movement and energy is why he finds shots in the offense.

You subtract Calderon and Afflalo, while adding Wroten, an improved Grant, and a Free Agent 3 and D guy, and all of a sudden you have a team that is a bit more lively in the triangle. Also should help things that whoever plays the two next year won't be hoarding space and refusing to move through the offense.

Grant/Wroten
C. Lee
Melo
Porzingis
Lopez

would be a pretty good look IMHO.
What do I care...it's rigged anyway
