All these 2's and 3's and 4's and 5's just mean we're getting the top pick in the actual draft lottery. OR slide down to 6.

Nice to see less fives.

Ok my turn:

Tankathon.com - 3, 1, 3, 1, 4, 3, 5, 5, 1, 5
ESPN Mock Draft - 2, 1, 1, 6, 1, 1, 5, 4, 2, 5

Holy crap, I got a six.

I wish they would just hold the lottery immediately after the season ended. T-Minus 32 days.

I ran tankathon my last attempt had 2, 4, 4, 5, 6, 5, 6 was pretty bummed out (actually stopped) and then spun 7 #1's in a row before finally going bust. It can happen, channeling optimism.

Can you guys do this a few thousand more times and then post the percentages..thx

From the other thread.
Here are the actual odds:
[tweet]https://twitter.com/dangercart/status/721167895565373440[/tweet]

So slightly more likely to get 4 or 5 than anything else (49%)
Small chance of 6 - 4%
47% chance of 1,2,3, with 2 then 1 as most likely of those.

Sounds like a good hire for them. Looks like they're finally looking towards a more long term approach. Their offseason is going to be extremely interesting.

Unless the roster changes then the hire means nothing. Still a bottom 5 team imo.

No one is signing in Brooklyn when they can literally sign anywhere else for the same money

They may be up and comers, but the Nets in Marks and Atkinson aren't adding core management that players will flock to, because most just won't know who they are. I think this move helps the C's picks, it would seem like a move where everyone including the GM and coach are going to "grow up" to their positions together knowing the long term success is the objective, not the short term. They sign Thibs it sends a message that they want players to come in and compete as soon as possible.

This stuff can distrupt the Hawks' locker room, if their ass coach is negotiating a headcoaching job during their series against the celtics. I remembered I was pissed off when Thibs was allowed to head coach job interview during the NBA finals in 2010, that really really pissed me off.

I still think a good GM in Brooklyn is best for us. A good GM patiently restocks draft picks and weathers the storm until 2019. A bad GM slaps together a 35 win team

Considering how little young talent Brooklyn has, and Atkinson being a guy who is known for developing young talent I would say this is great news for our picks. The Nets have RHJ, McCullough, Karasev, and Larkin as their only players under 24. They do have the 55th pick in the draft though.

I wonder if there was a conversation where Marks said "Look, we can make an effort to be the tenth or fifteenth worst team in the league by signing some decent players and basically jamming up our cap for three years, then start building for the future. Or, we can start now. Let me get some picks, get a coach that is good at developing young talent, and lets get on the right path starting this season. Those picks are gone and we can't worry about them. Let's do right for the Nets this season."

Next year could make this year look like a tough year for the Celtics. I would like to think we will be better considering the cap and draft situations. The Nets could be rolling out a bunch of rookies with a coach that would allow them to take their lumps.

This hiring signals to me that Brooklyn is going to ship out Lopez and Young in an effort to accumulate some young talent and picks. No sense in hiring someone reputed for developing young players on a veteran team.

I'd be ok with Young. They're getting their picks back, but I mean hey. Somethings better than nothing

It doesn't make a difference.

Didn't stop the Patriots from going back to back when both coordinators interviewed for jobs, didn't get them and then again interviewed for jobs, got them and then won.

Some assistant coach isn't gonna spook the Hawks

I hope they trade Brook, he annoyed the hell out of me this year trying to win just to spite us, he also stayed healthy all year, and if he stayed in bkn next year he will likely be an all star.

Just trade that goof turd. Same with thad young, ship his ass somewhere. I dont think there's equal talent to those guys, they dont have tons of value, good for teams that are playoff contenders, no rebuilding teams will trade for those two.

Maybe a late first for both is the best they could get and guys that are on expiring or shorter contracts.

If I were running Brooklyn, I'd try to create respectable product next season and build off it like Atlanta did. Young and Lopez are my poor man's Horford and Milsap, I have RHJ on the wing for next 3 years on a bargain deal, so that's good. I'd try to sign Conley or Rondo as a vet point guard leader, see how much money they want, keep Larkin as backup PG, waive Jack, keep Robinson and Bogdanović as first two guys off the bench and then get a sharpshooter next to RHJ, somebody with bright future like Barnes for max deal and hope it works out.
You're not going to win championships or lay c'ship foundations, the very least you can do is be a fun 40 win team.

Rondo - Larkin
RHJ - Brown
Barnes - Bogdanović
Young - Robinson
Lopez - Simms

Worst case scenario for that team is being bad in 2018-19 after a series of injuries, but Nets are going to have to be bad if they don't try. Best scenario is that the coach becomes as a good signing, they are competitive in Eastern conference and you ride it out, change some spare parts in the meantime.

Today's results (1,000 spins):
Tankathon.com - 1 (15.2%), 2 (17.8%), 3 (14.5%), 4 (22.6%), 5 (26.2%), 6 (3.7%)
ESPN Mock Draft - 1 (14.9%), 2 (14.8%), 3 (15.9%), 4 (22.7%), 5 (27%), 6 (4.7%)

Shocker. ESPN hates the Celtics.

Just statistics/math in it's full glory. At such large scale (1000 spins) you will only confirm what's already clear.

3. Lakers

Did you actually do 1000 spins ? Kudos in that case. They must be pre determined to give the same results as the actual lottery itself. I just hope we defy the odds and win the draft lottery, for once...even if technically it would be BKN that wins the lottery.
