Tommy: Horford " not a great player "

I am of two minds about this. I always thought Horford was a bit overrated, but the way that the NBA has been trending, and the way that our team is currently built, I can't help but feel that he would be an incredible addition. First time in my life I've been annoyed with Tommy.

I'm scared to death of giving Horford too much money. He is solid. He's like 37 year old Duncan in terms of production. That's a damn good player, but not a guy you max

Jesus Christ. Regardless of whether you want him here or not this is a really stupid thing to say. Mad at Tommy for the first time ever.

This. Nothing good can come out of Tommy's comments. I'm sure they've been pinned by Horford's locker by now. Destroys any chance of him coming to Boston IMO.

Why are you guys mad at Tommy ? He doesn't play on the Celtics and his comments are his and not the Celtics organization.

Doesn't matter. This will both make the Hawks come out fired up to possibly put us at 0-2, and make our FA situation even worse. People will badmouth Boston hardcore now.

Idk about that, I think at the end of the day, if players wants to come to Boston that is to play with our players , like IT, Smart, Crowder, Turner, Bradley etc and not affected by what Tommy or other media guys said.

It's not Horford's fault he's not the second coming of Nowitzki like Olynyk... :)

Meh, I know what he meant. Horford killed us in Game 1, and Tommy is just pointing out the fact that this need not happen, as he isn't some superstar or dominant big or anything.

He's basically an Avery Bradley level scorer.

He's "kinda" right. Horford isn't a superstar. Horford isn't a star. He's a good player. And I hope he won't come to Boston.

Milsap is the real star, props to Danny Ferry for bringing him in when nobody wanted him.

Horford is good.
Horford is not great.
This what I posted in the AJC's comment section.

Tommy is in the Basketball Hall of Fame twice. He was elected as a player, then again as a coach. He will no doubt be chosen again as a broadcaster. When he takes his morning dump there are chunks of basketball history, experience, and knowledge that no one in your pathetic organization could fathom.

Horford is a good player. He seems to be a class act. He is not great. He will never be inducted into the HoF. By your standards, he may be great. By Celtic standards he is a fine player, but not someone who gets his number retired.

Show up on time to the next game and leave the vomit colored t shirts in your Prius, this series is not close to being over.

Look I've been very vocal that I do not want Horford here either, but if you guys think anything good will come of this then pass the herb my way.

Horford isn't a "great" player, playing against the Celtics front court sure makes him look like one though

Maybe Horford goes hero ball and ruins their offensive flow? Grasping at straws btw

Yeah, Horford isn't great and Greg Stiemsma is a young Bill Russell...

Love Tommy, he's forgotten more about basketball than I've ever known, buts he's been losing it these past few years.

Was thinking you should pass me some of your good stash. Why wouldn't you want Horford here???

What's the realistic alternative that's better than Horford? He's not GREAT but I think so many people seriously underrate all the things he can do.

He isn't a great player he's a good player. If Hortford was great we wouldn't be clamoring for another star to come with him because reality is just him on the Celtics marginally improves them when it comes to winning a title. The Celtics bigs are just so trash that by default a good player is an automatic big upgrade.

Mike Scott is not a great player either... [you can finish the rest of this sentence]. Hope our bigs wake up in game 2. They're outmatched by Millsap and Horford yes but we've seen them perform better against good teams in the past so it's not like they're not capable.

It would be great if the guards can help out in boxing out and rebounding too.

Pectoral issues and price. Otherwise I would be down.
