yannisk wrote:If I understand correctly the Bucks can postpone offering Giannis a contract allowing him to become a restricted free agent. Then they could sign him to a max deal anyway. From the Buck's point of view doesn't it make sense? they will follow his progress for one more year and if (knock wood) he has an injury they will maybe sign him to a cheaper deal. Personally I would like Giannis to get paid as soon as possible but I wonder why teams are so proactive signing contracts when there is no risk to lose the player anyway.

By the way Ben Simmons reportedly signed a 100m shoe deal. How come there is no interest for a Giannis shoe?

That never happened. It was merely speculated by some random people at the height of the Ben Simmons hype which has dropped a lot. This was when they said he was the next Lebron. His shoe contract is believed to now be in the range of 15-25 million like most other no.1 picks

Also interesting (for greek fans): Giannis and Thanassis will appear today, at 19:30 (Greek time), on OTE Sport 4 HD ("Pick n Roll" Program) . OTE Sport channels will also cover their Greek Streetball Events.

rushing in before my fellow Greeks

For Kobe Bryant: "I would ask him how he managed to score 60 points at 37"

For LeBron, "Yes indeed I said that I want to train with LeBron. I think it would help me. I think he is one of the best players in the NBA and I want to eventually become one of the NBA's best players "

For his first idol. "I had many, I grew up with Allen Iverson. I always saw him and said, "one day I can be like him." He had a terrific crossover"

For Carrie: "he is one of the best players and he is the one playing better than everybody at the moment. If I saw him off the court I wouldn't be sure he is a basketball player. Carrie looks like a child. I'm more ferocious, I mean I have a more scary face than Carrie "

Does he lose control sometimes: "Certainly I get tense, but I have to keep it in check because you have to think about the team."

For Jason Kidd: "I speak after the games with my coach. He tells me to look for the team and to shoot when I can. I trust Kidd a lot, I respect his decision and will do everything possible not to disappoint him next year. I worked all year in training as a point guard. This is something new for me. One day after the All Star, Kidd announced me that today I will play as point guard "

which team will win the championship, "Golden State. If they keep playing like they do it will be very hard to lose the title "

which player he would not want to defend: "There is no player I would not want to defend"

For the city of Milwaukee, the worship of the people and the difficulties to manage the exposure: "It is easy to manage. I have people like Thanassis and my parents helping me a lot in how to manage all this. There is no court that I go and not see a Greek flag, not one and two, but more. I wait (as much as i can) the Greeks, after the games to be photographed and say a few words "

Whether he has reached close to losing his composure: "I am a low key guy and this helps me to not get carried away"

Seeing a family picture, ... Giannis tagged his brothers: "I am Jordan, Thanasis is James, Alex is Whiteside and Kostas Durant"

For his brother Kostas: "If i have enough time I go to watch him play. When I go to games there is a fuss (?), but I try not to draw the attention, since when Kostas plays I want the attention to be solely focused on him"

Giannis appeared in couple of greek tv shows and about the following Summer said:

1) At the moment I just talked with J.Kidd for only 20 mins so far. When I go back to USA in 2-3 weeks after the greek tour I will talk to him again and find out what's his plan about me.

2)It doesn't depends of me. I had a conversation with my coaches but they have a plan about me for this Summer. I'm doing everything I can to show them how important is the National Team for me! I try to show them how much I want to go! It has to do about everything though.. I have to become better for the next season, we have also my contract business. But anyway we didn't even hear the NT selection yet. I wish I'll be able to play in the Olympics because it can't get much better than that!

For the National team: "It does not depend on me. I had a talk with my coaches, but they have a plan for me during the summer, I'm trying to convince them and give them to understand how important is the national team for me. I try to show them how much I want it. There are many things involved. I need to get better, it has to do with my contract. I will go back there, to see what exactly they want from me. I wish I could play in the Olympics because there's nothing bigger than that. "

Whether he will leave for another team, "Now, no. For the next few years not. Sure, you never know what can be happen. I thank God and Bucks. I respect them because they took a raw 18 year old kid from the second Greek division'

For Filathlitiko (old team): "We remain very close to these guys and with our old coach.

For the change in his body: "I have grown 6cm since I left. I do not think I will grow any taller. I do not know how much extra muscle I got. however I am a lot heavier now"

For the All Star Game: «I'm not nervous at all. I am sure that with the work, and the right mindset, everything will come"

For life in Milwaukee: "Quiet town, but it has many things to do. My favorites cities to live I think are Los Angeles, or Miami "

For triple double: "not all the players in America think about them. In Europe the mentality is more about the win. In America they think more about the stats. Not all teams of course, that's why the Spurs are so good for many years"

for the Bucks attidute: "Next year we should have a winner mentality. We should enter the game and know we have to win. Like Golden State and San Antonio »

For times when he is not playing well: "All the players have been in this situation. And this year I found myself in this situation before the All Star game. I know I should not be disappointed and stop my effort. Whatever you do I should get up and chase my goal "

For Obama: "he is a great guy. He knew everything about everybody. He knew all our names. He said that he read the article by ESPN and if you play with the Bulls it will be the first time he will not be on our side "

are there times he wants to hide: "Not wanting to hide. I would like to have my own time sometimes. To go with my family, without attention

rivalry with another player, "There is not a particular player. When I walk on the court I am opponent with everyone. There is none particular that I am an opponent with him and not with someone else '

fatigue: "I have never felt exhausted from the game, but I'm exhausted from the workout. The NBA players do workouts. I do not know if they all do, but believe me, they do "

play in Europe: "Basketball is basketball. If I ever get the chance why not? Certainly Europe has tighter defenses. In Europe there are not many players as athletic as Thanasis and me who can do what we do "

For the future of his business: "If I ever open a grill, I will call it the skewers of Greece ", but I want to keep it like it is here (in Greece)"

For his Greek tour: "We know that Greece is a small country, but we want to show that there is hope, despite the poor state in which Greece is in"

I did not translate this interview to not cause heart attacks to the Bucks Fans

No response to this from Bucks Fans until now. I thought everyone in Milwaukee would get crazy about this

This was the first time that Giannis answered questions like these without saying "lifetime buck".

But to keep things right: I am 100% sure that he will sign a long term contract with the Bucks. If the Bucks
head to the right direction he will stay with the bucks for at least another long term contract I think.

Pay him and let him go to the Greek National Team. Olympic Games are liftime opportunities for a sportsmen.
Kidd and his staff could go to greece and accompany him and have a great time

I'd rather live in LA or Miami too. It's a matter of keeping him happy with the franchise. The city is secondary
