I like luwawu. Unless it's an elite offensive player or vice versa a two way player is a must imo

There is always one guy who is projected top 10 who doesn't declare every year - looking like Brown this year.

2014 -> Smart
2015 -> Cauley-Stein (arguably went higher than he would have in 2014).
2016 -> Dunn
2017 -> Brown?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Sabonis is picked somewhere around 10.

I'll be killing myself laughing reading the draft thread if Masai picks him.

Based on a slightly skewed current draft order because I don't think PHI winning and LA's farewell Mamba gift *ahem*

1. LAL - Ben Simmons
2. PHI - Brandon Ingram (traded to BOS - Saric is coming next year)
3. BOS - Kris Dunn (pick swap + another minimal asset to move up)
4. PHX - Dragan Bender (bye Kieff!)
5. MIN - Jamal Murray (perfect running mate for LaVine, space floor for Wiggins n KAT)
6. NOH - Buddy Hield (Gordon gone and Davis needs some help with the scoring load)
7. DEN - Jaylen Brown (they have Harris and Barton I believe at SG n could small ball w/ Gallo)
8. SAC - Ivan Rabb (they need maturity in the locker room)
*9. TOR - Timothe Luwawu (we've been looking at 2 way players, him, Powell & Wright good combo moving forward)
10. MIL - Jakob Poeltl - they need a defensive C
11. ORL - Skal Labissiere - they take a gamble on replacing Harris
12. Utah - Forkan Korkmaz - they could use more scoring
13. PHX - Domantas Sabonis - somewhat security if Bender busts
14. CHI - Tarean Prince - they value toughness
15. DEN - Denzel Valentine - to help Mudiay with distributing
16. BOS - Marquess Chris - banking on upside
17. MEM - Henry Ellenson - Zbo is aging and Gasol can defend post anyways
18. DET - Demetrius Jackson - has some grit and upside to his game, seems like a decent fit as back up
19. DEN - Brice Johnson - a nice way to open up a trade for Kenneth Faried
20. IND - Deyonta Davis - they just seem to look for a diamond in the rough
21. ATL - Tyler Ulis - they were already rumoured to be shopping Teague
22. CHA - Malik Beasley - just add some scoring
23. BOS - Thon Maker - the Celts I think are swinging for the fences with their picks, they have enough "solid" players
24. PHI - Caris LaVert - get some ballhandling
25. LAC - Diamond Stone- just some padding for DeAndre
26. PHI - Zhou Qi - it's nearing end of 1st rd take a gamble
*27. TOR - Cat Barber or Isaiah Cordinier (the French connect w/ Luwawu in D-League), I still like Bentil but doubt it
28. PHX - Cat Barber or Isaiah Cordinier - whichever one we don't take, think they have similar drafting tastes to us
29. SAS - Petre Cornelie - small ball C next to LMA for Pops and seems like a mature young player
30. GSW - Kay Felder - Gstate shocks people with a short flat out scorer *edit* possibly Cheick Diallo (energy guy)

I don't see the hype around Sabonis. At least not in the lottery. If he gets drafted around 20-25, then I think that's fair. But he doesn't strike me as a top-tier talent. To be honest, if his name wasn't Sabonis he wouldn't be getting as much hype as he has.

Many seem to hope Murray falls - I'm still quite skeptical, though. He reminds me of Randy Foye.

There are some "experts" that believe that Sabonis is worthy of a lottery pick. It has nothing to do with his last name.

He'll be a solid pro without a doubt. High IQ player with a very good motor, good mobility for his size, excellent rebounder.

If he turned into a more athletic version of Scola, he'd be a very valuable player. Almost 18 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists per game. PER of 27.45 while playing at one of the better programs in the NCAA................only 19 years old.

He certainly doesn't lack talent.

I do quite easily...

1. Wish I could remember the interview but Biyombo was asked about his contract and his response was along the lines money won't be an issue and he loves it here. He's already Masai's guy and I know I'm totally speculating right now (although I really don't think I am that much) that there's a deal in place

2. Poeltl wouldn't cover Biyombo's impact...Sabonis worked him for crying out loud

3. Masai has never drafted based on need and I certainly don't see him starting that on the day he gets his best pick ever and a chance to really get some talent. Luwawu has good upside on both sides of the court and would make a great pairing with Wright and Powell (possibly Bruno)

Murray has the "it" factor.

He's extremely smooth with the ball, excellent shooter, changes speeds really well, excellent body control. He is more talented offensively than Wiggins......even the current version of Wiggins. He's also more athletic than people give him credit for.

I think he'll be a 20ppg scorer in the NBA. Not sure what he will provide at the other end of the floor, but he will be a very good scorer.

The guy averaged an extremely efficient 20ppg (.502 from two, .408 from 3, . 783 from FT line, & a .590 TS%) as an 18 year old freshman on the top NCAA program in the country, playing for one of the toughest coaches in the country.

People also forget that he played out of position for the year. He is a PG traditionally & is used to having the ball in his hands more than anybody on his team. This past season he had to learn to play off the ball at the SG position while TU was the primary ball handler.

I definitely think he'll be a solid pro, and I don't think he lacks talent, but I just don't see his game translating over to the NBA game. At least not to the point that he'll be nearly as impactful as he was in the NCAA. Like I said, mid-to-late first round and he'll be a high value pick. But in the lottery... I just think he'll be seen as someone who was selected too high.

Tbh I didn't notice I missed him

Crazy because I think he could just as easily swap places with Diallo in IND and in quick retrospect I'd probably switch the 2 around because as I said IND looks for diamonds in the rough and like I said I forgot about him. If not I think CHA or LAC would pick him up and one of Stone or Diallo falls out the 1st rd.

Solid list. As much as Philly needs a point guard, they would be insane to trade Ingram. Definitely have my doubts about Luwawu going that high. Could potentially be there at 27 if we don't package the pick. The guy that will be interesting to follow is Thon Maker. Especially if he wows at the draft combine and team workouts. A team might be ballsy enough to take him in the lottery.
Want: Trae Young, Michael Porter Jr., DeAndre Ayton, Jaren Jackson Jr, Marvin Bagley III, Mohamad Bamba, Shai Gilgeous- Alexander, Elie Okobo, Jevon Carter

Personally I don't think any team has the pair to gamble on him in the lotto unless they have 2 picks. PHX needs some sort of security for Bender who can also turn out to be a bust and I don't see DEN passing on a solid pick like Valentine for someone who just easily fall into the 2nd rd based on shared info has been labelled an overhyped role player. Not to mention I think teams roll the dice on Skal before Thon, with the devil they know. Maker didn't even dominate HS basketball. But who the heck knows?! I wanna say maybe CHI shocks everyone but they usually value toughness so much.

Ummm, Saric is a PF and Kieff was traded to the Wiz

I don't know why I was thinking SF maybe I was thinking of Herzonja when I was typing, I'm tired lol fack there's a lot to cover in a mock draft but may be stand corrected on that pick swap although....

...but have no idea why you're pointing out Kieff, where did I say he wasn't?! The whole point of saying "bye Kieff" was pointed out was that he was traded so Bender is an excellent fit from a fit and BPA perspective.

Yes, good list. Ballsy sending Thon to the Celtics, but who knows. Someone is gonna take a monster chance on him. A pick in the 20s seems reasonable. I'd take a flyer on Thon or Skal if they were still there at #27.

I saw you put Rabb at #8, so I figured you'd be deciding between Luwawu and Davis at #9. Then Davis disappeared. He would be the guy Orlando takes at #11 to replace Harris, not Skal. I'd put Skal at #20 and Diallo back into the second round. I agree with DX on Diallo. Ulis to Atlanta eh? I see Ulis as a guy that can do great regular season things for any team in the league, but will disappear somewhat in the playoffs. (DD style) His size will be a liability against playoff teams with good, tall, fast opposing PGs.

As for Philly and their PG need, do you think they'd trade the pick for home town all-star Kyle Lowry? Kyle would lift them into the playoffs instantly. Ingram or Simmons would still be development projects for a couple years at least. Get 'er done BC.

Do you think the Pelicans, who need an SF, would trade #6 for #9 and Carroll if Murray was still available there? If we could pull that off, I'd be fine with keeping DD as an over paid player for one more season, and it would allow us to bring back Biyombo. Ross and Powell could handle SF well enough to keep us in the 50+ wins space next season.
