Hustle Stats are now up at NBA.com.
They measure things like deflections, charges drawn, shot contests, loose balls, etc. for both individuals and teams. The NBA is trying it out over the postseason. Clips have fared well in a couple of categories so far.

That's MY PREVENTIONS METRIC!
There are a few differences from my Preventions to the NBA's Hustle Stats:
1. Screen Assists: NBA counts for screens that are set closest to the ball handler or away from the ball. Preventions exclusively count for screens that are set closest to the ball handler. Credits for screens may be voided by the defender rolling behind the pick.
2. Deflections: NBA tallies deflections that trigger a dead ball, or do nothing but to stall the offense from attempting a shot (ie, botched steals). In Preventions, deflections are tallied along with jump balls and non-changing shot blocks a part of the Delay group, in which the defensive action did not result in a change of possession.
3. Loose Balls Recovered: NBA defines the loose balls category as gaining "sole possession of a live ball not in control of either team." I will assume this means when the player at least touches the ball and is simultaneously fouled to protect their possession. In Preventions, they are called Saves. This is one of the few items where there are no differences.
4. Charges Drawn: NBA counts for charges of any kind regardless of intent. In Preventions, the charges are broken down into three categories: shots (if a shot or drive was attempted, preventing points), possession (player has control of the ball and the defender is either pushed off by the player, or gets crushed by an illegal screen) and passes (player sends the ball to a teammate before running into a defender)
5. Contested Shots: The other category where both Hustle Stats and Preventions share similar traits. In Preventions, contested shots extends to shots block, charges taken, forced turnovers, and stolen possessions where a shot was about to be attempted.
I need to contact the NBA for this.
