I hope we hire Mitchell just to see the disaster next season. Whatever gets us quickest to unloading the best bigman in the league

There should be a spectrum between top tier names and Mitchell/Del Negro /Brown etc
Malone got fired on a whim and Karl got run out of town (deservedly but it still doesn't look good) under a year into his contract. Why would any head coach want to join the team if they had other options?
The Kings are the least desirable destination for a coach in the league right now. Expectations are high, talent is middling and management is a mess.
There are 30 head coaching jobs and many thousands of coaches?
Again, there is a spectrum between great candidates and unenthusing retreads

He's right. We're pretty much last on the pecking order in the league for a coach and free agents. Absolute rock bottom.

Re: Karl Officially Out, Who's the best fit to replace him?
I am actually okay with Mark Jackson or Mchale. Mark is a tough stand up guy and I think his personality will mesh well with Demarcus and the rest of the team. He doesn't get enough credit for his hand in the Warriors success. I understand that his system for them wasn't optimal but it works much better for our team and would love to see him get the job over Del Negro or Sam Mitchell. Mchale I wasn't to big on but clearly he helped the Rockets overachieve last year and he is known as one of the best big men of all time so it wouldn't hurt.
Obviously Luke Walton is preferred as a young coach with a good start to his career, or JVG as the better veteran coach but I doubt either guy considers us.

Mark Jackson is the opposite of "standup". He's a manipulative insecure narcissist.
Luke Walton is a far superior choice.

Holy cow, this better be a quick elimination process.
My realistic pick.
I just hope we don't hear him say he doesn't want to interview.
If he wants to get back into coaching it's probably the only shot he has at playing the way he wants to. He's damaged goods, the Kings are damaged goods, it's a great no lose situation for both parties. But you never know with how much this organization has damaged themselves over the years.

And lets not forget that last time PDA tried bringing him in previous to Karl. I don't think Cuz was into it. No Jackson for me.

Thanks for the insight. Jackson has a dangerous reputation. I think some of us are a little weary with Vivek and Warrior ties previously and tinkering.
Even if its Walton too.

I'm not a fan, but Jackson to me is one of the lesser evils. He would I still a culture and has a conviction about him at least. Guys like Mitchell or Del Negro seem without a pulse

Sam Amick tweeted that Kings and Brian Shaw have mutual interest....

You know we should have expected all sorts of "rumors" with our history recently.
But no matter what happens, at least some people still want the job, and hopefully Vlade chooses wisely.

Brian Shaw would have interest in absolutely anything.. Leaving no stone unturned here if that's true..

More than you pal
The coach we pick this season is irrelevant
We're not making the playoffs with Demarcus
The sooner we all see that, the better

I was not a fan of Scott Brooks in OKC but of the candidates left I'd rather go with him. At least I think he was potential to make us a playoff team.
Also wouldn't mind a first time head coach from college or something. Fresh blood who can connect with the younger guys more.
No Mark Jackson, Jesus, that guy sucks as a coach and person.

Re: Karl Officially Out, Who's the best fit to replace him?
You guys have to understand something, the top tier coaches aren't even going to consider Sacramento. Period. I also see a first time coach's agent begging his client to stay away in fear that it could prematurely ruin their chances in the future. That's why it's imperative they find a coach that fits the vision of the type of team Vlade is trying to build. I just really hope McHale is interested because I have very little doubt that once he and Vlade get in a room together he isn't the last coach standing.
Also, this search is a good indicator of the type of summer the Kings are looking at as it pertains to free agency. Sorry, Sac's the outhouse on the market this summer. Vlade is going to have to be creative with his trades and signings. If they keep the pick that's a good start of having an asset that could help land some needs via trade.

Yeah they really shot themselves in the foot the last few years and now they have a highly important hire and can't get anyone to come interview

Is there anyone in the thread who doesn't understand the first sentence?
Not wanting scrubs interviewed/considered doesn't equal wanting the big fish

I'm not super happy with many of the names, but you have some around here that think/thought Thibs, Brooks, Udoka, Blatt, JVG, etc. are/were real options. So, if you're going to have any kind of exhaustive search what names are even left besides the plethora of scrubs and short tenured assistants??? I'd be surprised to see some of the up and coming or upper echelon names not at least interview or use the Kings as leverage to drive up their price, but taking the job is a whole other deal.
Vlade needs to get this wrapped up if McHale is willing to listen. He's the guy for so many reasons.
