Around the MLB 2018

can't even get through one inning of mets/royals before wanting to **** shoot myself. routine fly turns into an E7, walk, wild pitch, and then a basic feebly hit grounder to the left side leads to a run for the royals and the idiotic and insufferable narrative that this brand of flukey baseball has transcended the sport lives on. **** the royals and their fans.

Ha, I had the same thought the moment that dribbler got through. I turned it off right then too.

eric hosmer continues to slide into 1B like it's more effective than running through the bag or something

This slide rule is stupid. Rasmus just got nailed for it in the Houston-Milwaukee game to end a rally in the 9th.

David Price getting lit up today!!

That Baltimore team looks scary... Could see them winning the division when this is all said and done.

While anyone could win the division I still put Baltimore in 4th or 5th by seasons end.

Mistake by AA trading Syndergaard away. Another stellar performance last night.

We have 42 year old Dickey instead... yay!

What's the moratorium on this being discussed?

As far as I'm concerned it has the potential to be one of the worst trades in baseball history.

So, a long, long time.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

I remember people here debating if D'Arnaud was too much to give up for Dickey. Opinions were fairly split. It was complete shock when another blue chip prospect was included in the final deal. Not very many people liked the deal at that point.

Knuckleballers just aren't that valuable. Even when dominant they are one gust of wind away from being unhittable to having a pitch that can't be pulled out of the middle of the plate. Doing it for an old pitcher to boot was just silly. Dickey on the whole has been fine for the Jays: 40 wins and 660 innings pitched over 3+ seasons. Syndergaard on the other hand...just sad.

There are 2 knuckleballers in the hall of fame. I think people like to throw them all in the same bowl because the throw the same pitch but some are still better than others.

Dickey was coming off a dominant Cy Young season which followed 2 really good ones. And the prevailing thought was he threw the knuckle harder than anyone ever has making him more dangerous than the rest. He's just never pitched at the same level since we got him. He's been good/average, just never dominate.

That trade was extremely short sighted though. JP Arencebia was our starting catcher for Gods sake, that was reason enough to keep TDA.

Did anyone see this? Was the final ruling that Kinsler lost the ball and thus no in-field fly rule? In my opinion this was the wrong call.

infield fly only applies when there are runners on 1st + 2nd (or bases loaded) and less than two outs to prevent cheap double and triple plays. omar vizquel did this too in 2012 iirc.

Ah, I thought it could be applied with just a runner on 1st as well.

I'm gonna puke. I'm much more angry on a daily basis about this than I should be. I have been since the beginning and it only builds. What can I do guys? I can't stop following baseball but I feel I have to take the next 12 years off until this trade no longer exists. No green font.

David Price hammered again today. Not a great start to a huge contract.

His 4-seam velocity is down 2.06 MPH, sinker is down 1.76 MPH. His velocity is down across the board early.

I mean, what could go wrong with dropping $200+ million on a high-mileage pitcher who will turn 31 this year?

Price starts low-90's every April and bumps it up to 94-ish later in the season. A lot of pitchers do that, it's not unusual. He also struck out 37% of the batters he's faced so far while maintaining his walk rate from last year, so maybe it's not panic time yet, haha.
