Josh Norman back on the market

Post#1 » by Mich3006 » Thu Apr 21, 2016 7:57 am

This came out of nowhere... Where will he end up?

Hopefully somebody will publish the reason(s) for the Panthers to rescind the tag. Can“t believe this is only a money issue... Greg Hardy 2.0?!?!

There has to be more to the story.
I hope he signs with another team for sure.

Can“t say this about the Redskins though... Guess we“ll see a Norman/Breeland CB-duo next season

I'll predict Norman will go to either the Redskins, 49ers or Raiders. Possible sleeper could be the Jaguars.

Josh Norman is a very good player, on the short list for best player at his position, but $15m a year is just too high a price to pay and that's where the market set his value. It was relatively clear he was never going to sign the franchise tag deal, next year he will be 30 and even if he's awesome again that will reduce his leverage for a long-term deal. A lot of NFL fans don't realize this is Josh Norman's first big-money contract, prior to now he's been playing for 5th rounder money. He's determined to be paid $14-15m annually and he was not going to accept less, and I can't blame him.

As a Carolina fan I hate to see him go, he really came into his own last year morphing from an underrated prospect who shows occasional flashes of brilliant to a legit lockdown corner on a top defense for an entire season. $75m with $51m guaranteed over 5yrs is just too high a price to pay for a 29yr old corner. The last two seasons and possibly even three seasons look to be a massive overpay unless Norman is the greatest age 31/32/33 corner in NFL history.

Well at least we get to see Norman vs OBJ twice a year now.

An overpay but I still like the direction that Washington is going in. Scot McCloughan is the real deal.
