Play Jodie Meeks at backup PG!
Meeks played some minutes at PG for the Lakers in his last season with them before coming to Detroit. Now he is not an amazing playmaker by any means but right now anything is better than Blake who is not a thread to score and of course the worst defender in this years playoffs.
At least Meeks can score well and shouldn't get abused by Dellavedova and guys like that. If Meeks can't initiate the offense let Stanley handle the ball more when Reggie Jackson sits on the bench. Its not like the Pistons are playing some amazing difficult offense, just need someone who can bring the ball up the court and start the P&R. Blake is a good passer but Cleveland really exposed him. He can't score, he can't defend, he should not play at all! I think its worth it to try Meeks at backup PG.

Absolute shame that Meeks has not played in this series. Stan Van Gundy has really coached horribly this series honestly

Re: Play Jodie Meeks at backup PG!
Here's what I would do-
Stagger RJ's and KCP's rest so that when RJ goes out, KCP slides over to the 1 and Bullock (who is 5 for 6 in the series) comes in at the 2. I've seen enough of KCP to be comfortable with him handling pg duties in spurts. Then bring RJ back in for KCP and then KCP back in for Bullock. If Bullock isn't getting it done during his stretch, bring in Meeks for him.

Kcp still has no handle despite the improvement over the offseason, not to mention he's never been known for setting up his team mates. KCP is valuable because of his defence, if prefer to keep him rested to be able to contribute with the starters at this point. I hate Steve as much as everyone else, but this isn't the right fix.

Re: Play Jodie Meeks at backup PG!
kcp can handle the ball but not well enough to run an offense. he has the same three generic dribble moves. he would get read before he can help.

It's not like Steve Blake runs anything resembling an offense. He is not a threat to score at all on the pick and roll, he can't even make 3s anymore.
Why not put someone at PG that won't get destroyed on defense every possession? Our bench can't score anyways.

Re: Play Jodie Meeks at backup PG!
I'm sorry guys, this my be an extremely unpopular opinion, but EFF JODIE EFFIN MEEKS. He quit on us. He'd been healthy FOR MONTHS, deciding not to play, and not caring about our trajectory until it was obvious that we were in the playoffs. THEN he decides to play in the last game of the season in a paltry attempt to get some playoff minutes on the back of the team that he quit on.
He wants to try to raise his value for this offseason, and Stan is having NONE OF IT.
Jodie doesn't deserve a single playoff minute, because he had absolutely NO INTEREST in getting us here, when he had the opportunity to contribute WAAAAAAAAY before now. He's been medically cleared to play since jan-feb, and consciously decided not to play... I love that Stan has given him NOTHING.
I'll roll with Steve Blake before I'll give Jodie a freakin milli-second of playoff time. Steve at the very least WORKED for the money that he took home.
Dinner= Regular season
Dessert= Playoffs
Jodie didn't want to eat his dinner, so no dessert for him.

Stop making up stuff.
He had a setback. Not only that, but Kevin Durant and Dez Bryant had the same injury, both came back too soon and required a second surgery.

Rest assured; I didn't have to make anything up. He physically COULDN'T play until the ABSOLUTE LAST GAME OF THE SEASON? Nothing is contrived in that... that is fact. He could've attempted to come back prior. But please, tell me more about why the oft-injured SG deserves an opportunity to raise his value on our backs with absolutely nothing given in the 2 years this organization has been paying him?

Just stop, you are wrong. He couldn't physically play until Late February/March. At that point Stan Van Gundy said there was an extremely low chance of Jodie earning a spot in the rotation that late in the season.
Here let me help you:

No need for me to stop... Stan has stopped Jodie from soaking up any of these playoff minutes, and I applaud that decision.

You made that up. right there. Fact is you don't change your rotation that late in the season for a role player, not because Meeks is trying to selfishly help himself, but because it's unlikely he's in game shape and wouldn't gel with the lineup that has played together all season. So sure, he probably could've played before literally the last game of the season, but we were fighting every single game just to make the playoffs, so again you don't throw someone into the mix who hasn't been able to play in months. That's not the time to throw him into the deep end, so to speak.
Now in a garbage game that doesn't matter and you're resting all your starters? Sure give him a chance to get his legs under him and see what he's got. If SVG thinks he can help this playoff series he will play, if he can't he won't. It's not complicated and there's no ulterior motives like you're suggesting.

Steve Blake can't guard a statue. Anyone on our team would do a better job right now.

HA! I asked a question based on THE FACT that he didn't play until the last game... That's not made up. It's a valid question. Again, nothing contrived.
Yes, we were fighting up until the last game of the season to make the playoffs, and now that we're in, the fight has intensified. Still no room for him, ESPECIALLY out of position at PG. And there are ALWAYS ulterior motives, whether you choose to acknowledge their natural presence or not.

I see straw-manning is strong with you.
Again, I applaud the decision that Stan has made in giving Jodie Meeks no minutes.
