Yes and No. They can't trade him unless he's willing to be traded. They don't have control over him like a player under contract. Bulls would have to WANT clarkson long term, LA would have to not want Clarkson and Clarkson would have to want to play for that Bulls team. I dont think any of those 3 things line up. So therefore the talk of trading him is completely unrealistic.

If Clarkson doesn't want to play for the Bulls and the Bulls dont offer him an offer sheet to his liking it doesnt happen. The idea of trading Clarkson for Rose is about as idiotic as it gets for trades for the Lakers as well.

Yes you can.

It is mainly done with RFA's so that the signing team can nab the 5th year.

In fact, guessing off of the top of my head without looking at CHI's salary situation, it's likely the only way they can grab Clarkson.

Okay, so they can trade him LOL

Well, no, I'm not. Clarkson or whatever isn't an all-star player.

So why is a trade centered around Clarkson and Rose dismissed so easily? Do you think that Clarkson is a tier above Rose?

I can't help but think you're trolling at this point if you're just going to quote 1 sentence out of my post which details everything.

There's some weird connection with the Lakers and Bulls fan-bases...

To paraphrase Emma Lazarus...
"Keep your Noah, your Rose, your Pau Gasol, yearning to suck expensively,
The wretched refuse of your 'United-Center' tablaux
Send not these broken, used up, under achievers to me,
Or I shall lift this foot and kick them back to Cicero

Ain't one of those statues at staples Lady Liberty...
Never have rice at Hanzo's house...

He's done man. I hope he doesn't get hurt again, but I don't want the Lakers to take the risk. In regards to needing "star power", name value is useless if the ability isn't there (including the ability to stay on the court and with Rose going forward, it's not something I'd be willing to give up assets for).

I would take him if it means we only need a Lou william as the center piece without any other future pick traded.
But that would severely hurt our cap space to sign other free agencies

Rose isn't worth the salary. I wouldn't sign him...never mind trading an asset. There is no star power in Rose is there? He sells shoes, I get that...but he's the next Grant Hill/McGrady. Alot of "what could have been".

I mean, sorry....I'm honestly not into insulting the guy. I have zero beef with Rose. Seems like a good guy. But I dont remember that guy being slightly relevant for at least 4-5 years. Can I name a single playoff thing he's done in the last 4 years? I can't. Has he even been in the playoffs? Seems like he's always hurt.

That's one man's opinion. If we could sign him for about $6-mil, I'd prob do it. Wouldnt do more than a 2-3 year deal though. Its not an insult....he just hasnt shown he can stay on the floor. I wouldnt trade him for Clarkson. I'd trade him for Nick Young. But if Rose is making north of $12 mil for any length of time, I prob wouldnt even do that

Nick Young + Lou Williams for Rose is probably the best offer i would do

Rose is hurt and taking him on is a gamble at best

Swaggy + Lou + S&T Clarkson for Rose + this year's 1st mid teens

Honestly, i think Rose will bounce back a bit, help sell tickets among casual fans, due to his contract year. Getting an extra 1st to help with the rebuild is a cherry on top. Clearing off 2 worthless players contract ASAP should not be undersold and ill admit im not that enamoured with Clarkson.

Swaggy + Lou simply cannot co-exist with DLo, theyre bad influences and stunting his development due to their rampant inefficient chucking (JC was at least more efficient in his chucking). With Rose he's the clear #2 guard behind DLo and will adjust his shot attempts accordingly, unless he has a huge comback season.

now why would we deal Clarkson for a mid first exactly?

I dont think the Lakers need to worry about selling to the casual fan. There's just too much history of injuries at this point.
Honestly, the Bulls should be happy just to find someone to take his salary. Not to mention.....I'd much rather throw those minutes at Russell anyhow.

Good luck to the guy....but he's one guy the Lakers dont need. And he's just too risky, IMO

How do Lakers fans feel about the Russell/Clarkson backcourt pairing now and into the future? Do they complement each other or does one likely have to go?
They played well together considering how spotty the minutes were for Russell early on. I see no reason why they can't work.

I personally think Bulls fans are a little desperate to move on from Rose, but if you're expecting LA fans to just jump at the sake of landing just any super star or all star...then you've come to the wrong place.

Are you saying that Clarkson is a super star or all star?
Where in the hell did you get me phasing Clarkson as an all star or super star ?

C'mon man who do you think your're talking to here ? I've been watching pro ball for over 4 decades, that's probably longer than you've been alive....I know Clarkson is nowhere near any of those levels yet. You asked about Russell and Clarkson playing together long term and I gave you the best answer for now.

I actually like this trade. Im not a big fan of Clarkson. He has a shoot first mentality and rarely passes the basketball. It would have to be a sign and trade because Clarkson is a unrestricted free agent

I'd make that trade if offered and you can still afford DeRozan and Whiteside

C Whiteside
PF Nance jr
SF DeRozan
SG Russell
PG Rose

DeRozan is 6'7 and has the size to play SF. Russell, and Rose can play both the PG and shooting guard duties. Id go with Nance over Randle because he can spread the floor with his mid range game.
