Dirk isn't leaving Dallas. Even today he said "Leaving Dallas is crazy talk".

You know who's a young white PF that can shoot and we can get cheap without a injury history? Jon Leuer!!!!

Yeah, and a 12 PER. I wouldn't touch Barnes with a 10 foot pole. He screams "marginal guy on a good team that gets wildly overpaid". Ala Mike James or JJ Barea.

Aminu is a little better defender. Barnes is a little better offensive player. Seems like it would make more sense to see if the guy on our roster making 8 mil a year can improve a little before we try to sign a guy to do the same thing for 25 million a year...

Not that GSW wouldn't match anyway.

What does signing him do for us? How does it change how we defend or get defended? I just don't see the benefit.

I'd much rather pay Batum or Parsons than Barnes. I doubt any of those three happen though.

If we renounced Kaman, Henderson, Roberts, Alexander and Montero it looks like we would be around 65-66 million in salary. Offer ~9 million to each of Jordan Hill, Marvin Williams and Evan Turner, to end up with a very deep and well balanced roster with the assets to consolidate if the right trade presents itself.

Lillard - McCollum/Turner
McCollum - Crabbe/Connaughton
Harkless - Turner/Williams
Aminu - Williams/Vonleh
Plumlee - Davis/Hill

I would be stoked to see this lineup going into next year. Yeah no 'big' FAs but the team has gotten into the playoffs, despite all expectations, and will probably be a 2nd round playoff team (injuries helped ofc). Should defs stick it out and see what the group can do.

For me that's a meh offseason and a plan D or E, but perhaps that's all we will be able to do

Blazers can't fall for the playoffs fools gold. I like this team as much as anyone, but the Blazers need to make a move to acquire a major upgrade at some position to compete with the true contenders. Dame & CJ need another Star to join them to move the Needle and be a genuine contender, not just a cinderella story. This is the off season we need to make the push as Wisenheimer has pointed out we will have to pay CJ and make other decisions next year that will not allow us to be in as favorable position.

Evan Turner might be a good acquisition, but only if we can't land a top tier FA or find a trade to facilitate and get another starter.

My off-season:

1. I'd like to see the Blazers buy a first rounder and find a way to draft Skal Labissiere. It'll possibly mean buying a pick and then trading up (packaging our 2018 first round).

2. Get on the front foot and Invite Marcus Paige, Yogi Ferrell, Fred VanVleet, Josh Adams to summer league if they do not get drafted in the second round. Sign one of them as your third string PG (let's say Paige).

3. Go out and sign Al Horford as your big FA target. If it's not possible see how much Boston is willing to match Jared Sullinger for. Third target would be Faried. If not then we have the space to offer an exception in return if the player is not a free agent.

4. Make an offer to Dwight Powell that the Mavericks will not match. Nothing too stupid but a good contract similar to what we did with Wesley Matthews when we got him from the Jazz.

5. See what type of money it will take to get Jerryd Bayless back to Portland. He's a perfect third guard for McCollum and Lillard.

6. Sign James Ennis (if possible)

7. Sign and trade Meyers Leonard to get an exception and a pick of some sort if possible

8. Extend Mason Plumlee's contract before he hits free agency

In: Horford, Bayless, Powell, Labissiere, Ennis, Paige
Out: Henderson, Leonard, Roberts, Kaman, Montero, Alexander

2016-17 Opening Day Roster

C: Plumlee - Davis - Powell
PF: Horford - Vonleh - Labissiere
SF: Aminu - Harkless - Ennis
SG: McCollum - Crabbe - Connaughton
PG: Lillard - Bayless - Paige

I think Marvin Williams is a pretty lousy player. Jordan Hill is pretty average and doesn't have any drive or intensity. He was one, along with Nick Young, that laughed when they would lose games last season.

A thumbs up for Evan Turner though.

While Dwight Powell hasn't put up much in the way of stats, I feel he's an up and comer that is going to be a very good player if he gets a chance. For a guy his size he has great athleticism. Plus he plays good interior defence, which I like to see from any big man.

But even though he doesn't get a lot of playing time on the veteran Dallas team Mark Cuban has said how much he likes him and at some point the Mavericks are going to be forced to accept they are old and will have to start over from the bottom with young guys to rebuild. I think Powell will be a big part of that.

But I would take both Powells, one from Dallas, and the one from Toronto, in a heartbeat( no, I don't think they're related). They both play with intensity and effort.

Not likely we would sign three free agents this summer other than our own free agents. I do think if
NO views Dame/CJ is our backcourt moving forward, Plumlee's skill set as a passer, rebounder and
(hopefully) developing offensive game is going to need a better front court player than either Hill
or Williams. That would allow Portland to employ Harkless as an energy player coming off the bench.

These playoffs Evan Turner has upped his averages to:

14 points
5.4 rbs
4.6 asts
1.2 blks
1.6 stls

He's only shooting about .400 from the field and .300 from 3pt land, but that all around production is something the Blazers could certainly use. If the price is right, I see no reason why he shouldn't be an Olshey target. His ability as a 6'7" SG/SF facilitator would be helpful to the Stotts offense, despite his lack of consistent outside shot.

Turner will be nice add next to Aminu, Harkless and other guys who can't score and shoot. And he will definitely strengthen our short group of Henderson, Crabbe, Compton(whatever name of that irish guy is) and other second unit SG's.
I'm not saying he has nothing to offer on court but still he's far away from being top priority for me.

Turner is an enigma to me. On paper he looks like a great addition to any team, but the fanbases of his teams seem to hate him. Never could figure out why.

Boston likes Turner. If he could shoot he'd get the max.

Dame/bayless
CJ/Korver
Barnes/Harkless
Anderson/Aminu/Vonleah
Plumlee/Davis/Leonard

Stotts would have a field day with that line up.

Let Hendo, Montero, Kaman, Roberts, Crabbe and Alexander walk. Dream offseason.

Plan A: Sign top notch UFA (Durant/LeBron/Horford)
Plan B: Sign RFA to the max (Drummond/Barnes... Beal?)
Plan C: Sign a risky UFA to a max (DeRozen/Whiteside/Anderson/Batum/Parsons)
Plan D: Spread the wealth around on high-end role players.

Howard is not expected to have a role. It's expected that he will become a free agent and seek a new team. Orlando, Milwaukee, Portland and Charlotte are the favorites.
