Its a well known fact that NBA players, well the good ones, use the off season for targeted drills and thats when they improve their game the most.

They are not flying around the country playing NBA games and spending time prepping for games like during the NBA season, they just work. They can just go to a nice city like LA or some random beach city, Bring a trainer and just work. WOrk on their shot, work on their defense, their dribbling, their passing.

The offseason is the MOST valuable time in an NBA players career and to spend it learning teammates you won't play with, in an offense you wont run, against international players you wont play.

It is, at the least, less productive than if he was just staying in the US, went to LA for a few weeks and worked with KD/RW and went to Miami for a bit to work with Lebron. Than spent the rest of the summer in Milwaukee working out with Jabari/Kidd/Suki?

Hey, I understand the logic behind this point of view, but I still think people overrate what he can get done this summer not playing vs what he can done this summer while still playing. I think the difference is probably more negligible than is assumed. I also think people gloss over the additional value in experience for a 21-year-old (who is still relatively raw) in playing these games.

What kind of difference in improvement would you expect next year from Giannis if he didn't play for the NT vs if he did?
If you had to speculate, would you really think there'd be an appreciable difference?

Never underestimate the power of the motivation. I am an a cyclist. Without my team i will ride max 5-10 miles, after that i am getting bored. With my team 60 its just a good but not great ride. We push each other. We are always looking for the next challenge. Going faster and farther. Its funny since a year ago 5 miles where really too much for me.

I can understand the shot, dribbling part, but can you effectively work passing and defense with just a trainer?

I think his game probably benefits most from the shooting and dribbling part, but beyond that, yes, you can improve aspects of passing and defense with a trainer. The skill part of passing, the footwork part of defense. He can also do film study with our coaches.

I mean, I can't get worked up over this. It's the Olympics. If he plays Eurobasket next summer, given they let Greece back in, I'm less into that. And less so the deeper we go in the playoffs.

Can't he bring a trainer to Greece and make the best of it?

If he can bring a trainer to a beach city or wherever, why not bring a trainer to Greece and try to maximize his time while he's not with the NT.

I'm sure he could. I bet he could even take Oppenheimer. Squeezing stuff in among the NT schedule obviously isn't ideal for serious offseason training, though. The dudes at ATTACK and Impact aren't going to be training on some secondary schedule. Plus you really don't want to train that hard if you're going to be playing games.

It's a shame we got blown out in that OKC game because that stick on Ibaka was filthy.

I'm pretty sure we were up late in the third/early in the 4th in that one. Point taken though i remember being really excited for that contest only to feel like it was over within 5 minutes.

We pulled it to within 2 iirc, details are fuzzy but I remember it being almost fully on the back of the trio, mainly GA/JP. I actually enjoyed that game more because of the bad start, it takes some major talent and huge balls to get embarrassed that badly against OKC, then explode like that to make it a game.

What's the date Giannis is eligible to sign the extension? After the finals or?
