One thing to note when you are watching the playoffs... look at how many successful teams post up their big men and at whathe type of frequencies.... then compare that to how many successful teams employ rim protecting/rebounding big men...
Then you'll understand why noel is the keeper and okafor should be traded. Postplay is just dead

Playing big values post play more than small ball. Both needs a rim protection. Like I said, watch how Spurs, Cavs or Hawks play. They don't have that 2bpg center. Game right now is heavy on defensive rotation and less on funneling your defense to the big (which is the problem for the Rockets).
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Okafor has elite offensive post moves, but if you watch enough of him, he is elite at facing up and driving to the basket.
Noel only has a post game, and I'm being generous here. I love Noel, but he needs to be traded.

Re: Welcome Okafor: Thread 2
last night shows why Danny was pursuing OK4 so hard before the deadline. and Bryan is not likely to put up near the fight that Sam did. still, hope we still got enough sense to hold onto him long enough to pair him with both Embiid and Saric.

Trading Okafor right now would be a huge mistake. He is a big time talent . We have a chance of having two big time talented skilled monster bigs developing with each other. Noel gotta go . He is a rim protector period. Build around Embiid and Okafor.

The only difference is we'd have much better spacing and shooting between our guys when they reach their prime. You have to at least try this lineup before giving up on Okafor. I acknowledge that the experiment could fail and I would be willing to pivot on both Okafor/Noel if that were the case (provided Embiid is healthy). This is something that has to be tested, though. We have atleast 2 guys on our team with HOF ceilings as big men. Team that with a crafty point forward with range in Saric and a guy whom I believe can be a great 2way player in Ingram. The final piece would be a veteran point guard at a reasonable price.

Can you honestly give one reason why his "trade value will dwindle to nothing"?
That is a ludicrous statement.

Seriously. If he NEVER improves an ounce he is STILL a starter in the league. You just need to put better pieces around him.
17 and 7 over 50% shooting with atrocious guards as a 20 year old...

Okafor is going to be a absolute beast on offense and a capable defender by next year. I can't believe people want him traded. He has a way more developed face up game then noel will ever have . Okafor defends post up players better and does well laterally guarding the perimeter. He also blocks shots without even jumping. I think he is a lot better going forward than Noel. Trade noel as his skill set is easier to plug into a already established team. Okafor is a building block with Star potential.

Don't forget that even if okafor can score it might hamper your offense if you have to throw the ball into the post too much. You really want to be iniating layups, free throws, and open threes and postplay is a backup for deep in the shot clock. I just don't see him developing a good enough jumper or being a good pick and roll player.
I think his defense will remain pretty atrocious. I also think he's likely to rack up injuries as he just plays awkward.
I think youll be more successful building around noel he's got more of an nba big man game

You might want to go back and watch Okafor play a few games, because I'm not sure what you're even talking about.

Re: Welcome Okafor: Thread 2
Yeah he was awful this year, I think teams will just keep running him through pick and rolls all game because he doesn't defend well in space.
On defense you really want a big man like jordan, ibaka, noel, etc who can protect the rim or a mobile guy like horford, zeller, towns that can keep bodies in front of them.
It's just really difficult to build around a low post scorer. Note the difficulty the kings have had despite Cousins being fairly efficient.
I just don't think okafor is worth the trouble he looks somewhat hopeless defensively.
Also his rebounding numbers are appalling i just think he lacks the athleticism to be a successful nba big man.
Im concerned about his low assists too. If he's really drawing all this defensive attention he's going to need to be able to pass out of it. It's just too difficult to run postup offense anymore now that they've scrapped illegal defense rules.

It's as clear cut as it gets. If in fact we trade a big it will be Noel. Okafor has more talent in his pinkie than Noel's entire being.

Yeah man, I mean these 20 year old kids should be better by now, they don't develop or anything like that. If Simmons comes out next year and can't shoot he will follow the career path of Anthony Bennett for sure.
